african horse land

african horse land

On that fateful Wednesday afternoon the whole of ACJC headed down to a patch of abandoned and parched African piece of land for their Annual Cross Country Run(Yea, make up such names for making us run on uneven terrains. Bleah!). The weather was unimaginably hot. The hockers were depressed at our failure to make a deal with the cabbie to fetch us round the back when we were supposed to run.

If you thought MacRitchie Reservoir was a bad enough running trail, Turf City is a gazillion times worse! Seriously, I demand that only horses should ever run there! Firstly, there's no shade at all. Secondly, it's pungently smelly with animal poo all over the place. Thirdly, well, the list goes on and it's just plain bad for running, as if running wasn't bad enough on its own. Ugh.

To alleviate the immense pain induced by this thing called Cross Country, we hockers decided to camwhore MAJORLY. And I really mean MAJORLY. Everywhere we walk, we snap. I think we took ten minutes to walk in from the cabstand to the gathering place. Hahaha. We even wanted to take our cameras to run!

Anyways the running part was like OhmymamatheroadwaslongandwindingandIswearitwasnevergoingtoend. And I saw Mr. Choo along the way! Thank goodness that he's already forgotten about the Challenge Pole incident. Well, you see in Sec3 we went for some kind of a camp with high rope elements and then I had to climb up this really tall pole with only enough surface area for your feet and jump off it to catch this trapeze pole in front. But because I was a wuss (okay, I admit!), I got kinda scared and started hallucinating and refused to jump. When Mr. Choo asked why I didn't wanna jump, I don't know why but I swear I wasn't in the right frame of mind, I said "I'LL CRASH INTO THE TREE IN FRONT!" The tree was about 20m away. So that's how the story about the Challenge Pole came about. He gave me no end to it for 2years. Hahaha.

Okay friends, and that, was called digression.

And yes, so I saw Mr. Choo and then I continued my painfully long journey back to the starting line. I truly think running is the most pointless spot ever. You just get back to square one in the end. WHAT IS THE POINT??? And in the end from a competitive runner, I evolved into a competitive walker. Hahaha! It was rather embarassing when my GP teacher hollered my name as I neared the finishing line at walking pace.

That was finally the end of my very wonderful Cross Country. And you know what? IT'S THE LAST ONE I'LL EVER RUN! L-A-ST! Heehee!

At the cabstand, where all the camwhoring began.

Shiyan trying to take a picture of me, trying to take a picture of her taking a picture of me, trying to... You get the idea. Haha.

Cross Country makes them scrowl.

Big kids!

Nicely fitting! (:

When Vannie THE camwhore disappeared with my camera for 3seconds.
My oh-so-prominent long nails.
Marc decided to be this monster charging towards my camera.

how very random

how very random

I woke up on this brilliant Monday morning with one thought in my head, and I think it's gonna be the statement of the year with many J2s - "The only consolation of the start of this week, is that it's actually headed towards the end." How very optimistic eh. :D Yea, life of a J2 for you.

And my reasons for saying so? Here's the agenda for the week.

Monday: Pitch Training (Which is over!)
Tuesday: PE (!!!) & Math Tuition
Wednesday: Cross-country at Turf City (We're gonna run on horse tracks!) (!!!)
Thursday: Pitch Training
Friday: Friendly match with PE-teacher-wannabes
Saturday: Off. OFF. O-F-F!
Sunday: U18s Game with SRC

And then I refused to acknowledge how the week starts again.

I need to improve my tackling skills and STOP SWEEPING.

I need to rest. Alot more. The lack of sleep is resulting in my auto-pilot mode half of the time, and that is really bad when I need to concentrate during trainings. Oh, and of course, those precious lessons that we attend as well.

My Human Geog tutor is a bimbo.

Jeremy told me to cut my nails after seeing how long they were from 3 tables away in the void deck. Haha!

I very cleverly decided to try and direct the cab uncle to my house and we kinda got lost for 3minutes in some place with old and rundown and dark factories. He ended up talking to me for the rest of the journey like I'm some serious idiot and I ended up with an enormous cab fare.

He even said things like, "Is this okay? Right in front of the 2nd car? The black car? I stop here?" Yea, I had to learn my numbers and colours again just because I don't know my directions. Tsk.

Oh, and I figured that cabbies have to make so many decisions on which turn to take everyday. What if they keep taking the wrong turn when someone's waiting for a cab just further down the road? Hmm.

Yes, I'm becoming weird.

The ACS anthem is super duper long. Oh, but the next time I hear it, it'll mean that the week is almost over!

I DIDN'T HAVE MATH TODAY! (((:

in the glass house

in the glass house

Lunch date with all the hockers on Saturday! :D Fran and Kaiyi wanted to meet at 11.30am to go shopping first. I told them, "I'll try." Haha! And trying saw me stirring out of sleep at about 12nn, thinking it's still 8plus because the blinds were drawn down. So in the end I reached the Glass House at 2.40pm. Hee.

Good thing none of them had to rush off before I arrive. So I still got to see everyone there! Haha. Just that I only ordered my food when all of them were about done eating. Heh.

Actually I'm writing this thing about one week later and I can't exactly remember what I wanted to write. Hahaha! So, pictures! (:

Look at Amanda! Hahaha.

The less random shots.

The happy drinking buddies.

All of us!

LOVE!

Met Sarah dear after that to shop for clothes for CNY. It's been so long since I last went shopping with this woman! School has been keeping us so terribly busy. Argh. Prancing around town and doing speed shopping while stealing time in between was a lot of fun as usual! Haha. Even though I stupidly brought a flat wallet along and couldn't buy anything even though I spotted several nice tops and a pair of bright pink suspenders! Ahhh! I gotta go back and get them soon!

Anyways Sarah bought a super pretty dress from Zara! It's really so, so pretty! I love the shade of blue and the feel of the material. Makes me kinda wanna buy another dress. Hahaha. It's so pretty and it's looks very nice on her! I can't to wait to see her wear it and go out with her in my pale green dress! :D

And then we almost died trying to look for a nice black skirt to go along with her top. THEY DO NOT EXIST ALONG THE STRETCH OF ORCHARD ROAD. The only one from Mambo was too big and they didn't have smaller sizes. So we combed the whole of Far East, Wisma, Taka and Heeren in vain until our legs wanted to break beneath us.

Pictures in between.

Camwhoring in our favourite toilet at Paragon.

Sarah Motana, as my brother calls her.

She, who is always fixing her hair.
Squint at us.

And our never failing jumping toilet shots. <3

high school drama

high school drama

I need 25 hours a day and I need to vent majorly. ROARS! I'm an angsty little thing now. Or rather, I was an angsty little thing because weekends kinda make everything perfect - mainly because I get to sleep. For as long as I want to. Friday I came home from school at 6pm and slept all the way until 8, woke up for dinner, napped from 9 to 11, woke up to bathe and get a massage from Mommy, slept from 12 to 12. :D But I still woke up tired on Saturday morning.

Teachers are getting really pissy at school. They make me wanna be a totally rebellious kid and do everything I can just so that I can watch them explode. I have that streak in me okay! And recently I feel the strong urge to show it. EEKS! I wish they will just let me go through my lessons peacefully, chill out/study/eat at the void deck happily and dash home after the final bell deliriously.

But NO! They have to make my life miserable.

Friday, 26th January 2007
Let's start from last Friday, which was the 26th of Jan. (Yes yes, I know my blog is lagging big time.) So anyways, I decided to take a train to school because I was relatively early and happy that particular morning. And I reached Bouna Vista relatively early too. Happens that Peiyan, Shiyan and Joyce were on the same train, and since there were 4 of us, we decided to cab down to school, so that we will be even earlier!

But boy, that lazy decision destroyed my Friday. Why? BECAUSE ALL THE CABBIES DIDN'T WANNA FETCH US cos they claimed there's always a huge jam at ACJC! (Which was caused by the timely construction of the puny two-lane road outside our school at the peak hour of 7am; which was so happily decided that it shall not take place during the holidays when there is light traffic. Brains, people. BRAINS! What happened to those?)So as we waited and waited for more cabs, we weren't really early anymore. Finally a cab came at 7.27am and we all but jumped in.

We reached school at 7.29am and tried to ask the Uncle to drive in. But we were stopped at the gate by the securities and His Highness KSL (I don't know why I call him Highness but his behaviour recently has planted that thought in my head). We sprinted out of the cab and ran like we've never ran before all the way up the back stairs, only to hear the bell ring and watch the door close, right in our faces.

We were 5 seconds late and got DC. It was a wonderful feeling, I tell you. I felt like walking out to hail a cab home right on the spot. And you know what's the best part? Friday is my ONLY free day of the week and I end at 1.50pm! DC starts at 4.30.

4hours for 5 seconds. What a bargain eh?

Wednesday, 31st January 2007
I was walking back to the void deck from the canteen with my glorious chicken rice with Shu when I saw KSL, with his back facing us. Not wanting to risk his seeing my unsprayed and therefore rather brown highlights, we turned around and made a detour by the bookshop. When Shu made sure that she saw him walking off towards the canteen, I ventured out of the corridoor.

And guess what?

"Mengqi! Come here."

It was none other than His Highness. Zomgx he was so totally camping there and spying on me, waiting for me to step out of my safe zone! HE WAS SPYING ON ME! Pretending to walk away! Pretending that he didn't see me! I was spied on! Ahhhh! It was so freaking creepy I tell you!

"Why did you make a HUUUUGGGEE detour (It wasn't that huge really, just about 20steps more.) when you saw me? AVOIDING me, huh?"

"Uhh, I went to the bookshop."

"Oh, REAAALLY? What did you buy then?"

"I bought a pen refill."

"And WHERE is the pen refill, may I ask?"

"Erm, it's with my friend."

His Highness turned around, and called, "Young lady! Please come here. Where is the pen refill that your friend passed you?"

Shu went, "Uhhh..."

His Highness looked at me with a mighty triumphant look on his face, "Now you're guilty of TWO things! One for LYYYYING to me and avoiding me; one for you-know-what. So, you go and enjooooy your chicken rice, and after you're done, write a letter to me to explain all these. Enjoooy your chicken rice, okay?"

Well, and that saw the end of my brown hair. I wrote His Highness an extremely corny letter, sounding all apologetic and guilty and remorseful and went home to dye my hair black that fateful night. ): But I guess that also sees the end of my fugitive life in school.

Anyways, I don't actually know why I was so pissed off that day. I'm not actually very pissed now, writing about it. I guess it was just the indignation that he was SPYING on me, and the sheer infuriation at the stupidity of my lies. I swear it was the DUMBEST lie I've told ever since I could speak. I could have just said the bookshop was closed, or I didn't have enough money, or that they didn't have the colour that I wanted, or something, anything! Blah.

Thursday, 1st February 2007
Okay, this had me REALLY pissed off because it was so not my fault.

I decided to be a good student and go for swim PE after Mr. Mark Ng got rather pissed off at us last week, even though that would mean I'll have to lug 2 shoebags, a cage of balls (which happen to be really heavy), my stick and not to mention my very heavy school bag to school.

So anyways, we went to join the Beginners in the shallow pool so that we won't have to swim that much. It was all good except that we were the last to be dismissed, which meant that there was a long queue at the bathroom and we were right at the back of the queue, which subsquently meant that I was 25minutes late for Math class.

I went into class, apologised, and expected the usual routine of having to stand, then answering a question, and then sit down. But no, a certain teacher who shall not be named got into a really pissy mood and decided to interrogate me on why I was late for class. And my only answer was, "Swim PE. We were dismissed later than the rest of the cohort and therefore there was queue in the bathroom."

He demanded that I go with him to see the PE teacher after Math class. I told him that I had a class after and he said he didn't care because I was late for his class, so don't I dare come and tell him that I was gonna be late for another class. So I went with him.

When we reached the bleachers, another PE teacher with the same middle as my Math teacher stopped to greet him. So this exchange took place.

"Hello sir! How're you?"

"Not very good. Just to find out ah, what time do you'all end your PE lessons? Swim PE, I mean."

"Oh, we ALWAYS dismiss them very early one. Like 10 - 15minutes earlier. So that they have enough time to bathe and so that they won't be late for the their next class."

"Ah, I see. Cos this girl here ah, CLAIMS that she was dismissed late from class and was therefore THIIRRTY minutes late for my class know!"

"Huh? No lah. No such thing. I saw them all walking out at 9.07am from the Sports Complex. No no no, no such thing."

"Orh, like that ah. Thanks ah. I was just wondering. Cos she say..."

CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT IS THE PE TEACHER'S PROBLEM?! Wasn't it obvious that I was in trouble for being late for class because of swim PE? Wasn't that like blatant and in his face? What good does it do him to rub it and make sure I had no alliance and will sink into even deeper poo? Does it make his miserable life a tad happier by making ME miserable?! Well, I HOPE HE MISERABLY STEPS INTO A MISERABLE DRAIN AND SPARINS HIS MISERBALE ANKLE AGAIN! Arghhh!

So then we continued our happy, sunny journey to the Sports Complex, went up to the pool and found the teacher who took charge of the Beginners. He is one nice guy who I kept thanking God for. And on top of that, he's got much better assets in the physical department too. Poetice justice, me thinks. Learning point: Don't be a miserable toad unto others, or you'll end up looking like one too.

Anyways, the cute PE teacher cleared things up for me, clarifying with Math guy that he dismissed us on time, but we were really the last of the cohorts to be dismissed, and even explained that there may have been a long queue in the bathroom because what happens there is another issue because girls being girls tend to take a longer time to bathe. I was so very thankful for that.

But the Math guy rudely cut him with a "Thank you very much, I think that's enough." And then turned to face me, "That still doesn't explain why you're FORRRTY minutes (notice the increase in the period of my lateness and that his lesson lasts only 40minutes) for my lesson! And you said your teacher dismissed you late. Where got? He say on time what."

"I didn't say he dismissed us late. I said later. And there was a queue at the bathroom."

"So? I don't take THIIRRRTY minutes to bathe. Why should you?"

"Sir, neither do I. But the queue took twenty minutes."

"And so?"

WAH! AND SO OBVIOUSLY THAT WAS WHY I WAS LATE! BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET A BATHROOM TO WASH THE SOAP OFF MY HAIR AND I COULDN'T POSSIBLE GO FOR CLASS WITH SOAP ON MY HAIR IN MY SWIMSUIT!

When I stared right ahead without saying a word, he asked,

"Do you have a class now?"

"Yes."

"What class?"

"Literature."

"When's your next break?"

"10.50am."

"Come and see me then. Do you have anything to say to me?"

After a LONG pause, "Sorry sir."

"Are you late for class now?"

"Yes."

"Then? Run la."

ZOMGX! That so totally pissed me off so much that I almost raptured an artery and died of heart attack on the spot! But no, I won't let him have the glory over my dead body. So I rushed off to Lit class to a very understanding Ms Jay, who smiled sympathetically after hearing my explanation. I simply adore teachers like that. Many hearts to them.

I am going to continue typing out the very long conversation, if you can even call the exchange a conversation, just to show you how anal he was about it.

"So, how?"

"I don't know."

"Can you explain to me why you were THIRRRTY minutes late for my class?"

"There was a long queue at the bathroom. I had to wait."

"How long?"

"Very long."

"And so?"

I was reduced to speechlessness. I simply had NOTHING to say anymore. So I just stared at the spot above his ear and kept quiet. Finally, I ventured,

"Where could I have gone between Swim PE and your class? It doesn't make sense."

"Oh! Many places! You could have gone for a drink, or chit chat with your friend. How I know right?"

"No, I didn't. And if I did, why would I even come for your class at all?"

"Orh. Cos if you don't come I'll ask you for letter mah. Then like that very inconvenient for students like you right?"

"I did not."

"That one you say one. I don't believe you."

Once again, I was at a utter loss of words. In fact, I had to concentrate on not whacking in between the legs or on the head.

"Were you with your friends?"

"Yes."

"So they were all late for class as well?"

"Yes."

"Give me their names and classes. I want to talk to their teachers. I can't believe this."

But the thing is, all my friends ponned! So I said, "I don't know what classses they went for."

"Go and find out and come and see me again. If you can find them la."

Thanks goodness I found Pamela who was 20minutes late for her class as well. So I went proudly up to him and told him Pamela's name and Math class. Turns out it checked out with Pamela's teacher BUT he totally ignored me in class by skipping me when he was going down the row to pick on people to answer his questions, which is purely fine by me because I completely REFUSE to acknowledge his presence.

And finally, he concluded his pissy saga by telling me that I would only be given a grace period of 10minutes from PE and he didn't care if I bathed or not and me refusing him his much longed for and comfortably expected apology but just saying "Okay" and then walking off for the next class.

I still insist that it was NOT my fault. There was honestly nothing I could have done and if he could accept a guy coming in 35minutes late for class with the "I was in the toilet" excuse when he didn't even have PE, I don't see why he had to be so anal about me coming in late from PE. It wasn't like I was this late every time.

P.S: Don't ever name your kid "XXX Chee XXX". It's BAD. REAL BAD. Half the time they turn out to be miserable people.

~

Woah, I feel like I've just written a book. Haha. And while venting has made me feel a lot of better, it has made me really tired. If you've survived until here, thank you very much for your patience. I like you. (:

Alright, I shall go catch a nap and then do some work. Happier stuffs later!

happier days like that

happier days like that
[Edit: Scroll down for more updates on earlier dates! (:]

After much whines and complaints about school, I am happy to say this week has been great so far! And it's Wednesday already, so even if Thursday and Friday totally suck, I'll have a good more-than-half week. Haha. Okay I'm not making much sense, but the main idea is - Yay, Wednesday over and there're only 2 more days left in this week! (:

I swear it's the power of the camera that makes days so much better than usual ones. Or rather, the sucky ones. Heh. My blog has been pretty plain as of late, so I went on a mission to camwhore in school! Mission it is called, I've never given myself an easier & happier task.

Look!

SJI - 1AA2 paying us a visit.

My seafood counterpart - the Prawn. :D

All my lovely girls! <3

Carol and I discovered that the backboard makes great backgrounds for pictures. Haha.

Chinese; otherwise known as the S period - Sleep/Slack/Study/Snack. (:

Mine, Sheryll's, Yan's.

Shu and I during PCCG today.
It was supposed to be career talk and I guess we all kinda decided to be photographers, specialising in self-potraits. Haha!

The pink stuffs we that we proudly own. (:

Yan did my pretty French braids!

Mel & Shu!

Hear no. Speak no. See no.

I won't know how to survive school without them. <3

Then there was physical training after school. I really like training on Wednesdays in school, despite it being physical training. It's so fun training with all the other CCAS!

The bulk of our training was made up of 2sets of 16 x 30m sprints & 70m jogs. It wasn't too bad, but my shin was absolutely killing me. I discovered that this horrid thing is called shin splint, whereby your calf muscle somehow ends up moving against your shin bone, which causes a sharp pain along the muscle line near the shin when you run. Gosh, does it kill! I seriously hope it'll go away soon! Because it not only makes running painful, it makes going down stairs a total torture.

Went over to the cafe with Fran and Kaiyi after and met Shiyan and Eleen there again! We ate a lot of stuffs including fried rice, fries, poh piah, banana, ribena, starfruit H2O, carrot cake and Hip Hop jelly! It kinda made Nick really worried for Fran but it made us all happy girls.

We talked about how to sleep in class and not get scolded, collecting drool in your mouth while doing so then spilling the drool all out when you wake up, unglam sleeping positions and everything else under the setting sun. It was so funny and we all caught Fran's laughing fit. We laughed and laughed and laughed until our overworked abs couldn't take it anymore. :D

I haven't laughed so much in so long and it made me a really happy girl. Laughter is definitely very good for the soul, better than anything else.

Oh, and one more thing that got me on a high - the pretty, pretty skies! The skies were so lovingly beautiful when we walked over to the Sports complex. Of course I couldn't resist pictures.

Fran holding up the brilliant skies.

Uhh, my fellow vice-capt and captain Chye.

Miss Tan & Fang!

Such an artistic picture, hor?

Ahhhh! Pretty skies get me very excited and jolly.

The golden sunset.

Who can resist such pretty skies? I just kept staring and staring, walking with my eyes trained on the endless blue. I think nice blue skies kinda makes everything perfect, and they make days like this so beautiful.
