not smart enough

not smart enough

I am so depressed about the GP paper. I don't feel so secure about getting an A anymore. ): My essay was so short and half-baked, it doesn't feel like a very good essay to me at all. It took me 3tries to write the right introduction and 35minutes to start writing my essay, which left me with less than an hour. Not very good at all.

Halfway through, I started thinking about the irony of the situation. Here I was, worrying about the quality of one of the most important essays I'm writing in my life, and the topic of the essay goes "The word failure should not be allowed in education." Ha! So does that mean I get a second chance at writing if I screw this up? NO. Failing in your major exam deems you a failure, fullstop.

My problem with the introduction was a stupid one. Due to the nature of the question, I wanted to start the essay with the example about how young animals can't even stand up when they're born, and they have to try and fail and try again. So if nature dictates that education should provide second chances, we shouldn do away with the concept of failure in our education system everywhere and yada yada. Sounds quite cool right? BUT THEN, I freaking forgot what the young of a horse, pony, deer and even a cow called! Then it struck me - KID! The kid is the young of the sheep! Eh.. But wait, is it the sheep or goat?? Not very smart to start an essay sounding all bimbotic and stupid huh. So I scraped the idea. Damn!

Then I toyed with the idea of an eaglet having to plunge off the cliff before its first majestic flight, but somehow it didn't seem to link to the question. So in the end I used the so-not-original example of the 14yrold Japanese dropout who severed the head of an 11yrold and delivered it to his former with a note stuffed in the corpse's head saying "This is my revenge to the compulsory education system". It was from the GP package last year, much to my dissatisfaction. And from there on my whole essay was practically based on the East Asian education system, which renders the scope limited. Plus my conclusion was so hastily done, with the point about Western education failing to address culture assimilation and blah blah thrown in on a last thought.

So bad. ): A levels are so hard, and I feel so daunted already.

Paper2 was okay I guess. The invigilator guy made a brainless blunder and announced 5mins when there was 15mins, and gave us all a good shock. But still, my AQ wasn't as long as I wanted it to be and I only had 2 full analyzed points. Let's hope I get full marks for Summary and Vocab, how's that? Haha!

I am really upset and worried about my GP right now, BUT YES I KNOW I HAVE TO GET OVER IT! Meng, stop harping on it, STOP. You have like, 7 papers ahead of you to ace (and stop thinking you can't ace your Math because if you can screw up your GP you can so ace your Math) so let's go, move on with life and go study for the rest! What's done is done and it has become something you cannot change. So go do something productive and useful that will get you out of this rut.

Okay, I can do this I can do this because I've taken so many exams in life and I've been doing fine, so it'll be no exception this time. Eeeks!

I want to go out and have a Halloween party too. All you lucky people dressing up as witches, vampires, sexy bunnies or Frankenstein, have fun and collect some candies for me. :D

And on a side note, I'm pretty glad I've decided to keep this blog locked for the time being. (:

Now I'm off to morph into a Math Genius!

beginning of the end

beginning of the end

For the life of me, I still cannot believe that A levels is happening tomorrow. Everytime I receive a good luck message for MY A LEVELS, I get a shock, really. I'll be like, OMG I'M TAKING MY A LEVELS!

I don't feel extra prepared/secured/whatever. It feels like another school exam. It feels like if I screw this up, I'll still have another chance. Which is bad. Oh well, at least I'm not freaking out yet. But then I'm quite worried about why on earth is the freaking out part not here yet. Maybe the running does help. (: But what if I freak out at the door tomorrow? And by the way I have no idea where the paper is tomorrow. I hope it's the MPH because I think it's at the MPH.

Okay, but this is not the time for self-doubt. I need to be as confident/cocky as I can be, because that's the only thing that's gonna get through. Haha! I am going to get my A for GP because I think I can, and because Madam said so. I can get through my A levels because so many people before me have gotten past it and I am very smart.

So Mengqi, you should hit the showers in about 10minutes for a good, warm bath, and then retreat into your cosy bed which you love so much with some GP material to nurse you to sleep. You've written A essays before, and you're gonna write one tomorrow. Watch your time for Paper 2, peek at the AQ before doing the questions, and do things fast. There, you're all set for your A.

Please pack your pencilcase (with all your favourite pens), sweater, entry proof, water bottle, wallet (with money and I/C), some GP stuffs to flip through on the way and whatever else you want into your bag before you sleep!

Good luck to the rest of the world! (:

geography quirks

geography quirks

Couresty of the beloved KSL. :D

I couldn't stop laughing at this line that really appeared in my notes.
"Some animals are more destructive than others, rolling rocks down slope on purpose."
Hahahaha can you imagine the little creatures with the evil face, rolling rocks down the slope on purpose, and being immensely please with themselves for starting a landslide?

Champagne Supernova started playing on my iPod when I flipped open my landslide notes.
Soundtrack of my life. Hahaha.

I can imagine her as anything BUT a hurricane. Hahaha!

Picture to my champion story of the post.

I went to sleep at 1am or so last night (or morning) after reading some Mass Movement notes. (Yes, my attempt to finish it in ONE day failed miserably but whatever. Hahaha.) I was dreaming of massive landslides and volcanoes and earthquakes (I hope this means the information is taking roots in my head) when it went PIAANG! It sounded like a huge sheet of glass exploded right beside my bed! Startled out of my dream, I opened my eyes are realised nothing happened anywhere in my room.

So I stumbled out into the dark hall and a huge gust of freak wind met me in the face and I went like OMG CYCLONE! And then I bumped Mommy who also came out from the room to check out the exploding sound and I was like "So is this an earthquake in my dream?" And Mommy said "No, it's the vase next to the window with the overgrown indoor plants." in the most matter-of-fact voice. Meanwhile, I was still rather worried (genuinely, I might mention) about the ground giving in underneath my feet because I was so drowsy with sleep.

Then light flooded into the room and I finally saw the wreck of the broken vase on the floor with the stupid plants grinning happily at me, satisfied that they have stunned me out of my sleep. Bleah, stupid things. Now they lie in a PAIL while we contemplate what kinda new home they'll be getting next.

Yes, this is what Geography has been doing to me. Pretty fun sometimes, I have to say! (:

Post-Script: That's a picture of the pebbles we put in the vase to keep it from toppling, which obviously it didn't work. And I have one more picture to share actually, but stupid Blogger is being a bitch with pictures right now and I gotta get back to studying (synchronised timings with Fran the Hurricane!) so it'll have to wait till later!

reflections on blogging

reflections on blogging

Okay, I'm not one of people who can be totally zen about even the most ridiculous comments thrown in your face, I admit. I know it's not good, but I like to take on a fight anytime. So I thought abit about this and this is what I decided on.

I started this blog with the purpose of entertainment. More so for myself at first, but later on also for my friends. I want to capture the funny, sad, quirky, impressionable, happy, lonely, crazy, heartbreaking, blessed and preicous moments of life. I want to read back and laugh and cry at the silly things I did, and the great moments I had. This is me writing to the world, to my future self.

But the way things are going, it's evolving into an entirely different thing. It's become a common place for bitching. It's become a source of gossips. It's become a rather unhappy space. The total opposite of what I had intended it to be.

So, if this blog doesn't entertain you and there's absolutely nothing in here to brush a trace of a smile in your life, then really, there is no point in you being here.

I've got more important things to deal with in my life right now, like the A levels and I really shouldn't be wasting any more of my time on this catty issue. I've decided to lock up until I finish my As at the very least. I've locked this blog before and I didn't enjoy it very much, but I think I just don't need this kind of distractions right now.

It'll also be a time for me to rethink about the way I write and why I'm keeping this blog at all, because I believe in writing with responsiblity.

If you're one of the people who enjoy reading this, then you can email me at heartfelt-words@hotmail.com anytime. Meanwhile, the password thing will kick into effect again on Sunday evening. Friends who were added will remain on the list.

Yes, the Bigger People Concept kicks in now, Luddy! :D See y'all!

delifrance conversations

delifrance conversations

We had a great day at Delifrance! (: When I walked in and didn't see Fran, I happily messaged her "I AM EARLIER THAN YOU!". Then I saw her walking down the stairs, dammit! Haha but I was only late enough for her to take a trip to the washroom, so not THAT late! :D Ooh and I loved getting out of the cab outside Starbucks in my shades out into the bright sunshine! I think Holland V is place where shades are MUST HAVEs when you're not wearing your uniform. I was immensely pleased already. :D

Don't ask how productive our day was, because it wasn't. Haha. But the strange thing is we didn't really feel upset/guilty/any of the emotions normally associated with an unproductive day so close to exams, because I think good conversations are worth it, and we both aren't the kind who can mug for days and weeks straight without a break. So yeah, I think it was a good break, with some work slotted in between.

Swee Geok and Karen entertained us with their weird antics for awhile and then Kaiyi arrived fashionable late at 7pm. Hahaha. We wanted to go check out the pub area because we saw two people who were dressed up for Halloween but that was it! Only the two of them were dressed up. Hahaha.

We went crazy after dinner and laughed till our abs were screaming for help. Heh. Everything kept getting funnier and our conversations were getting from bad to worse, and our jokes were so not funny but we just couldn't stop laughing. Yeah, it's one of those evenings. (: Here, let me share snippets of our conversations and then you can go figure the rest out. :D

Early evening:
M: I don't like cherries very much.
F: Yeah, neither do I.
M: Cherries remind me of sex.
F: Oh, you don't like sex?
M: Not that, but eh... Actually I won't know, would I? But I think most normal people like sex, and I think I'm quite normal, so in conjecture yeah I think like sex. But I still don't like cherries.

Later in the evening:
KY: Eh that day I saw a boy who looks exactly like Shawn Lai from Barker called Shawn also.
F: Well, Shawn Lai is from Barker.
KY: Nono, as in he's still in Barker.
M: Oh, I would have thought it's his brother, but his brother is younger than ours. (Kaiyi's brother, Fran's little sister, and my brother are all 11 this year. :D)
F: Yeah, I would have thought so too.
KY: Well, my friend said "I doubt the family would name both brothers Shawn right?"
F & M: *Stunned at the brilliance of the logic and went "OH.", before collapsing with laughter again.

Even later in the evening:
KY: Meng, do you want skinnies?
M: NO, I can't wear skinnies.
KY: Nono, I got a pair which is Size 33 and I can't wear.
M: *Looks at her incredulously and "So you think I'm a 33??"
F: *Bubbles with giggles.
KY: Nonono, cos we all bought skinnies, and then we tried to change our sizes but still couldn't fit. Mine's supposed to be an M but it's like an L ... ... ... And suddenly it's like an XL! (I can't remember the details of the conversation but you get the idea - it got from bad to worse. Hahaha. And we were all just amused by ourselves.)
M: *Stares at KY with huge eyes and "SO NOW I'M AN XL TO YOU???"

All three of us just erupted into laughter while Kaiyi said and pouted for a long while. Hahaha.

Very late into the evening:
F: Do you think girls can have a boy's body?
K: Yeah, just go to the gym lor.
F: No Karen, I mean like a sex change. You know guys can like just cut it off and do the rest, then girls how? Add on ah?
KY: Yeah I guess you can do that. Why not?
F: Then... how to pee?
M: Hmm, I guess you can like redirect the route of the water, like flood mitigation you know! What do you call that, you know the thing we learn in Geog, let it flood in one place, and let it find its own way out. Just leave a hollow tube in the fake thing and eventually it'll come out right?
All the rest: EEEW!
F: Or maybe can make it velcro, so that it's not permanent. Then they can still wear girls' panties.
M: What if their girlfriends/boyfriends pay them a surprise visit at night? Then they'll be like WTF! Hahaha!
All the rest: YUUCKS!
M: Okay, I think we should stop this conversation.

Hahaha okay I think I should stop sharing the rest of our conversations. Even these are somewhat censored already. But it was a hilarious evening. It was bimboism at its best, and I enjoyed all our mindless conversations, and of course Fran's Thai/Thigh joke that Karen couldn't stop laughing at. :D

I hope your Friday night was as fun too! Oh, and here are the pictures! :D

For Swee Geok!
Because I'm too lazy to make a nicer collage,
Left to Right: Weird One x 2.

The cool shades gang. :D

My camera skills. :D

And Fran's! (With my help of course. :D)

I dunno what happened to those skills.

We wanted a picture with both us in the mirror plus the flash bright spot.

Good take but the flash didn't go on! Dammit.

Aiya, the best I can do. Hahaha.

The baby is uuuuuber cute! 2 and half months old. :D

Fran laughing at her reflection in the spoon. Haha!

The Hungry People.

And to Bloody J1:
Hi, I really don't know who you are, and I honestly don't really care. I would like to mention that the previous post was NOT in response to any of the tags on my own tagboard, but if you please, it can be directed to you too, if you want to belong to the anon tribe. That's perfectly fine with me. Even if you have a name, you still have no integrity or character, so what is the point? If you have really stolen someone else's identity, then congratulations, you have managed to stoop even lower than before! Just to clear things a little, I was ranting, at no one person in particular, and I've already said that the library is partly at fault for setting up the Games Corner because afterall the J2s are trying very hard to study for their A levels, something you'll eventually have to face too. And just for the record, getting an A for GP is a goal for myself; it's a challenge; it's an encouragement for myself; it is not an absolute statement, yet. As to whether I can achieve it, yes we'll see after I take the paper, and after the results are out. Say what you will, but I hope you'll be a happier person.

the anon tribe

the anon tribe

I love the Internet and the Blogosphere for what it is - an endless ground to explore, a medium for interaction and connection with people, a stage for everything I want to say about life and its quirks. But there's one aspect of it that I absolutely DESTEST.

It's the aspect that's been long under fire and debated over. It's the aspect that people have criticised again and again but can't eliminate because it's the very nature of the Internet. It's the aspect that has resulted in many people turning away from the computer or setting up a series of privacy measures. It's the one damn aspect that has pissed me off too many times and has once again, successfully pissed me of MAJORLY.

I am going to have B.F. Bitch Fit. I don't care what kind of battle the tagboard will turn into, but I am going to say my piece but it is MY BLOG and if you don't like what I'm going to say, you may please click the little red box with a cross the top right hand corner now.

I HATE THE ANONYMOUS TAGGERS. The mean ones with no integrity or character or even a name. The ones who have nothing better to do with their lives and go around hurting people they are probably jealous of and hiding their face behind their computer screens. The ones who think they're great but really are pathetic little things with no guts.

I don't blog anonymously, neither does anyone I know. If we say anything that's not to your liking, it's said WITH A NAME. So I don't think it's very fair for anyone to say horrid things just because it pleases you on MY blog without even daring to admit who you are! The worst of these group of people, are those who claim to be either "strangers", or "passerbys", or the oh-so-orginal "anonymous" and they say personal things, hurl personal insults at you and pass personal comments on your character, facial feature or whatever. Because if it's so damn personal, then obviously you are no stranger/passerby/anonymous. You are someone I know, someone with a name and face that you're to ashamed of perhaps.

I don't understand WHY these people want to hop around the blogosphere hurting people without rhyme or reason. Personally, I don't think there's a reason behind it per se, but I really do hope these people will learn how to find abit more happiness in their own lives and stop being so sadistic and irresponsible. If you don't know the blogger, then you have no right to criticise. If you do, then leave your name! If you just wanna bitch without a name, go start your own anonymous blog and you can type an 20 000word essay on How Bitchy So-and-so Is without hitting word limits! Blogger is FREE.

Maybe now I agree with the suppression of freedom of expression in Singapore. Too many people just don't know the meaning of free of expression with responsiblity. Which basically means you cannot say what you like or hurl insults at anyone without grounds.

And for the record, this is not in response to any tags on my own tagboard, if you wish to know. I am just REALLY pissed off with things that were said on a close friend's blog. EEKS!

Now, am I going to get my A for GP or am I going to get my A? :D

pent up

pent up

I feel like a volcano. Or a huge mass of rock awaiting the avalanche to happen as the driving mass increases everyday. Studying is not fun. And I think I've been studying too much Geog. It'd be nice to explode into splintereens and get stuck in the flesh of people I don't like. Omg why am I so morbid. But then again, I even dreamt that I was walking around school with Ms Tan and we met a few of her clones. Hahaha!

Waking up at 6am is NO JOKE, now I remember. Especially if you have the habit of sleeping at 2am. But what to do there was GP consultation at 7.45am. Yes Oyg (like, Oh your God and not mine this time). Madam says I'm a rare Commonwealth girl. (:

I've been wanting to say this for a long time but I didn't wanna be rude. I guess I'm pissed off enough now. THE BLOODY J1S SHOULD BLOODY LEARN TO SHUT THE FUCK UP IN THE BLOODY LIBRARY! It's a freaking L-I-B-R-A-R-Y. For quiet reading and studying? Your primary school teacher didn't teach you? I know you are done with your exams but keep some puny brains and have a heart - there are people who are DYING while mugging so would you please at least let them have peaceful death? Huh huh huh! Freaking idiots. I threw a paper aeroplane at them with the gist of the message, but it dropped to its death before it reached the table. Bleah. If I'm free this time next year I swear I'll go and make a huge din in the library and see how you study for your A levels! Rah!

But to be fair, I think the library itself should be reponsible for half of the stupidity of the entire affair. Who the hell sets up a Games Corner on the 2nd studying level with funny games like Taboo? Great idea executed with immense stupidity. I HOPE SOMEBODY READS THIS. Eeeks!

Coffee gives me jitters when I don't get enough sleep. I was super jerky and oddly nervous the whole morning. My heart was running a damn race with itself. I thought maybe I was gonna be blessed with a heart attack or some medical conditions to make A levels slightly easier.

I'm attempting to finish Mass Movements notes by TODAY (ie. Before I go to bed which won't be anytime soon since I had a good nap). I'm done with Set 1. I really want to and need to finish this. I don't even know why I'm typing this here.

Big hug to everyone who's been keeping me alive. (: Mommy, Daddy, yes even the smelly brother, Fran, Yiting, Cynthia (even though I haven't seen your face in so long!), Kaiyi, Ms Tan, Sammie, Sarah, and the wonderful teachers. Sometimes I feel like these people around me are breathing for me, so thank you! And you just have to be so painfully insensitive sometimes. You really don't get it, do you?

the skylighter

the skylighter
[/Edit: Eeks I don't know why the picture is missing pixels!]

I went to play badminton and frisbee with my brother on Sunday evening, after an afternoon of studying with Kaiyi at BPP. It was a very nice evening! Setting sun, abit of breeze, laughing kids, strolling old people. Except there were soccer idiots using the badminton court as their goal post even though there's a soccer place somewhere closeby, and we didn't really want to get smacked in the face, so we went off to play frisbee!

By then it was getting abit dark, at about 7ish, so we made full use of the $35.50 worth of functions on the frisbee, which really included a nightlight. Haha. It was really quite cool, cos when the frisbee spins in the air and the light has a very pretty effect! We were happy people.

And then suddenly, there were people standing around us, hoping to join the game. People strolling by stopped to look at the Unidentified Flying Object. Toddlers started chasing the thing at full speed and parents screaming and running after them. It was rather amusing for us two. :D And my brother was very proud of his expensive purchase. Hahaha.

An Indian kid and a Chinese kid asked to join the game. I said Okay because kids are supposed to have fun. That was until I realised that Chinese kid didn't dare to catch the frisbee so that it kept landing on the floor and the Indian kid KEPT THROWING IT INTO THE BUSHES! OMG!!! WHICH MEANS I HAVE TO GO AND PICK UP THE DAMN FRISBEE IN THE FREAKING BUSHES! Roars! I wasn't very happy at all, so I told them very nicely "Sorry, we wanna play by ourselves." Ha! See if you make me pick frisbees anymore, dammit!

So yes, that's my Sunday evening frisbee story. Oh by the way, the frisbee is really called Aerobie Skylighter. I didn't make it up. Haha. And I spent like 10minutes in the dark, one handing throwing the frisbee onto my bed and the other with a camera, trying to take that picture. Hahaha!

Other random stuffs over the few days I haven't been here!

I accidentally slapped a plump, sweaty lady in the face while flagging for a cab, because I was looking for my phone in my humongous bag and didn't notice her coming up from behind. It was very embarassing and gross and she was really pissed off at me. Hahaha.

I did my brother's homework till 2am on Sunday because he was such an idiot he didn't even touch any of the 7 papers he was supposed to do during his one week break until 10pm on Sunday night! Terrible kid. I found out that even Primary school Math is freaking hard.

I had a 2hour chat with my parents on Sunday, and it was very nice! (: I complained about my Math teacher and they complained about their colleagues. Hahaha we're such a whiney family. :D

I WENT FOR HOCKEY TRAINING ON MONDAY! I can still hit balls! Yay! :D Congratulations to the new captain, and work hard, the rest of the babies! You'll get there, and you have all of us behind you all! (:

I made a waiter at Delifrance pay extra for my sandwich because he packed my order for the customers in front of me. Hahaha it seems that I just cannot be a good customer at Delifrance.

I'm happy studying at home now! I can wake up at 10 and not feel stressed because starting work at 11am is still okay. And the monsoon season is GREAT for stayhome days!

I am fretting about my Prom dress already!

I'm getting really sleepy because it's 1.50am and I should probably get to bed now. :D

Post-Script
: I know I'm blogging ahead of time but hopefully this means I won't be hooked onto the net over the weekend cos I won't have an excuse anymore. Hahaha. And hopefully this will also mean I'll be ahead of time in the mugging too. Hee.

hopes and aspirations

hopes and aspirations

At 18, with the most important exam of my life so far lying around the corner and all the grown-up choices knocking on your door, waiting for you to decide on something, I've been asking myself what do I eventually want out of my life. I thought through it on the bus today, and figured out part of it, I think.

Let's skip the boring parts and fast forward to the kind of life I want to lead. (: Like I've mentioned, I don't really look forward to my 20s as a young adult, mainly because I know it's going to be a tough road if you want to make something out of it, and there definitely are mistakes waiting to be made no matter how careful you are. I don't like that idea very much.

I want to be married by the time I'm in my late 20s because I don't believe in all that urban shit about people being too busy with their careers to settle down. The notion of family is very important to me, so I won't place career above it anyday. I want to have at least 2kids, if not 3 or even 4 (Haha, I didn't really go into details on the imagination of this aspect - the madness, the noise, the depression - but hey, I'm a idealist! :D) and I want my first kid before I hit 30. Having kids when you're too old would mean you won't have the time or energy to grow with them. I don't want to be a working mom when the kids are young.

Of course, you need to have the financial capability to provide for 2/3/4 kids. (Coughsthehusbandbetterberichcoughs. Haha!) I haven't figured out this part yet, but I'm sure it'll fall into place slowly because I will work for it. (Not the rich husband part!) Money also doesn't have that huge an appeal to me. Being moderately well-off would be nice, but I don't need to be a multi-millionaire or something. It would be nice to live in a spacious suburb house with enough individual and living space for both adults and kids. I would want to keep a room for my parents, always. I think I'll need a domestic helper, because filth freaks me out and I'm just bad at housey things. You're looking at a girl who can't find the bloody spinach at the supermarket. Hahaha.

And being me, I definitely want a car for convenience's sake simply. It would be very enjoyable to be able to indulge in an ocassion Gucci bag and Chanel dress once in awhile. :D For both my own sake and the family's sake, I would want to go on holidays at least once a year! (: Ooh, how exciting. Finally, I just don't fancy the whole idea of being the corporate lady because I want the family to have enough time for each other. That's the most important thing. Besides that, I also want to have time for myself.

Basically, she is leading the perfect life that I've been dreaming of during the 40min bus ride to school this morning. Though these ideas are still from my own head. Yeah, you may say I don't have lofty aspirations, but I think these are pretty big dreams too. And they're definitely better motivation than what, As and Bs, degrees and dollars. That's why I'm the dreamer (that's really what my name means!). :D

So then the practical parts of the package. Alevel results. Uni course. Career. I know I know, you can't really do without these. And I don't want to do without them either, even though I don't like them every much sometimes. Okay, here goes:

General Paper - A (You know how important this is!)
English Literature - A (If I don't get this I'll cry.)
Geography - A (Omg, that equates to ALOT of mugging.)
Economics - B ( I really don't know how to get an A for this thing! Rah.)
Mathematics - C (I really want a B, but considering I've hardly passed anything...)

If A levels prove that I'm smart enough, I wanna take a double-degree. Probably Law+Soci, or Soci + Lit, or Law + Lit. It's important for me to enjoy what I'm studying, because I do well in stuffs I enjoy. Just look at my Lit and Math grades for Prelims (after moderation). A and U. Hahaha! Says alot huh. But I also know it's pretty important for my degree to get me some big bucks, therefore a double-degree.

I haven't decided if I want to do Uni here or go overseas, because the stress level as an Singaporean adult scares me abit. But since I haven't applied anywhere yet, I guess I'll do my first year here and see what if I wanna apply anywhere else, but that would also mean I'll have to try for a scholarship. Or alternatively, I might take a gap year if local Unis don't offer the double-degree combis I want. Depends depends.

So there, my hopes and aspirations at the age of 18 - half a kid and half a grown-up. I wonder what would I think when I look back 10years later. And for now, I'd better go back to my notes so that all these things can actually happen. :D

riot of colours

riot of colours

Can you guess what's this? :D

Hmm, easier?

Hahaha okay. It's my stationery.

I was walking away from the desk to go take a late shower when I saw the mess of pens I left on the table and got inspired. Haha. I don't have the habit of packing my pencilcase if I'm not going to school the next day. I only pack my notes or Mommy won't let me hear the end of it. Heh. And I was gonna read some GP essays anyways, not like I'll be able to wake up for Paper 1 Mock, now that I'm still up and unshowered. Haha.

Anyhow! This is what I really wanted to capture at first:

Isn't it quite fascinating how my pens and ruler and whatnot
form a semi-circle around where my notes should be? :D

I stole this thing from Mel's blog and I think it's so cute! (: It says almost everything there is about being a proud student of ACJC. Have fun!

You know you're from ACJC when...

1. You have the hottest guys/girls in town (or so people think).

2. Almost half of your friends speak Chinese worse than AngMoh.

3. You have to deal with such a thing called "Swim PE".

4. It takes you 18 years to realize the majority listen to Chinese music.

5. From time to time you get a sense that any good address should end with the phrase "The Best is Yet to Be"

6. You start running out of class once your friends start singing "Happy Birthday", then you find yourself in the pool naked after they catch you.

7. You feel like telling Gurmit to shove the $10 (fine for stepping on the track) up his ass.

8. You think Jimmy Tong is a hero.

9. Potential councilors campaign by promising to ensure that there will be a constant supply of toilet paper in the girl’s toilet

10. When other people give you funny looks when you say the coolest place is the void deck.

11. You call the stands, the bleachers.

12. When you ignore the rumors about the western stall auntie refrying her soggy fries in yesterdays' already black oil and queue up anyway cause its the shortest queue in the canteen.

13. You understand what's Wan Way and Lenn Way's Link.

14. You meet your friends at the Smiley to go to Holland V for Haagen-Dazs.

15. You don't have to retake Chinese even if you got less than A2.

16. When you rejoice and jump up and down in LT4 after receiving a C6 for Chinese, shouting "thank you Lord!" and see people running towards you with congratulatory hugs.

17. When you start lining up for the free parent-cooked dinners at 5.30 during exam periods.

18. Red, Blue and Gold start becoming your favourite colors.

19. You actually miss chapel

20. You actually expect to hear Majulah Singapura every morning in perfect acapella harmony.

21. When you just have to study in school during exams even though it's damn noisy and you have to shove your iPod into your ears all the time.

22. You think that your school uniform is cooler with the shirt than the yellow PE T-shirt.

23. You know that "mass pe" is just a cover for "mass suicide".

24. You don't bat an eyelid when people call you snob or rich kid...

25. You think a 4-minute cab ride to Holland Village is perfectly acceptable and commonly practised!

26. You have climbed down the side of the school near the canteen, through the fence behind the tennis courts or conned the guard with fake mc 'cause you're late

27. You never wish to trade your time there for anything else! You shudder to think that you could have been at any other junior college!

28. You clamour for all the school-based shirts (the AC shirt, the polo, the house shirts, the CCA shirts) but they're all sold out way too fast.

29. You leave a mountain of sweet wrappers at the back of every Lecture Theatre you enter..

30. You know where the Champions Table is.

31. You wanted a pink slip to skip class.

32. You just can't stop drinking Milo!

33. You have to take GP tests after being given tonnes of newspaper articles to read and mug... though we had often made use of "peer marking" to help ourselves to pass w/o reading a single shread of news.

34. We have our prelims scheduled extremely early compared to the rest of the other JCs.. AUGUST?!?!

35. You have to hide/run away from Bangla workers instead of teachers in an attempt to 'pontang' school.

36. You're in town with your classmates "selling FUN-O-RAMA tickets in our secondary schools".

37. You don't mind being seen in Orchard Road with your school uniform - it's the coolest in Singapore after all.

38. The words "Raffles", "RJ", "RI", or anything of the sort, are either preceded, or followed, (or even both), by several expletives in a variety of languages and dialects.

39. You find that you own more than one of the following ACJC apparel or accessories: T-shirt, windbreaker, sweater, socks, towel, file, pencil, post-it notes, car windscreen shades, umbrella, (the list goes on...).

40. You’re always hounded by current students to purchase Fun-O-Rama tickets; and then spend them on the previously mentioned items above...

42. You know that a SCone is not a fruitcake.

43. You're actually proud of your uniform (esp in comparison to some who had to wear green flaire skirts even in JC).

44.You know where the hocks, ruggers, swimmers and other cca tables are.

45. You understand what the word "candeck" means.

sadness is

sadness is

When you can balance your file on your stomach instead of your hips while standing.

Stepping into your jeans and wondering "Are these really mine?"

When your hair grows into a bush and your fringe to your chin with your highlights looking like frayed ends AND still not being able to find time to go to the hairdresser's.

Not wanting to get up in the morning because you know once you do, it's STUDYING.

When you can play join-the-dots with your pimples. And run out of ink.

Not being able to sleep at night because OMG I HAVEN'T REALLY DONE MUCH TODAY!

Picking up an eyeliner tube and forgetting the exact amount of pressure you need to apply to get that perfect line.

When you can't squeeze into your stiletto pumps because even your toes are fat.

Looking at blue skies and instead of daydreaming, think about ELR and SALR from you Geography notes.

When you can't afford your daily dosage of caffeine at Starbucks/Coffeebean not becausely you're miserably poor, but because you drink. So. Much.

Realizing your concealer doesn't even match your skin tone anymore because you're so freaking fair.

When you read the new novel and have the urge to highlight & memorize lines.

Watching TV and ponder upon the positive/negative impacts of media on the world.

When your A levels are 2freakingweeks away.

Okay, I'm quite glad to say I'm moderately happy, still. Which means I haven't achieved ALL of the above. Hahaha. Go figure which ones are talking about me. :D

Anyways, 2 somewhat publishy posts back to back normally won't sit very well with me because I would still like to appear subtle when I'm blogging (says she who can't keep her blog locked for a month. Ha!), but the truth is I really have nothing much to blog about these days! My life has been reduced to studying/eating/sleeping/attending lectures/consultations/jogging. You really want to read about all that everyday meh? (Again, so much for being subtle! I'm even beginning to sound like Xiaxue, OMG! But I don't really care, it's only for the As period! Hee.)

But if you wish, I had a pretty good day at Holland V again, with Sarah today. (: CoffeeClub has the best service but they have too-low seats and I had to sit on my file. Sarah was just waiting for my file to break underneath me. Hahaha. Then we moved to BK in the afternoon but they freaking had no aircon upstairs! We pratically sprinted out of the place and headed to Delifrance, with the big tables and blesssed aircon. We were bad customers (or is it costumers? Omg I'm becoming dumb.) but good muggers cos we didn't order anything and ate outside food. Hahaha. When I'm flthy rich next time (which I will be), I'll donate a sum of money to Delifrance for them to open up more of such bistros with easy-going staff because they're so nice. :D And because I forgot to pay for my drink the other time.

Eh actually it's not all that boring eh? Lalala I hope this means I'm gonna ace my GP. Omg, I'm so freaking scared that I'll get a B for GP. Before you call me a show-off, I would like to point out how absolutely important an A for GP will be to me. I need it because I'm in the Arts Fac and anything Artsy in Uni will require an A. I need it because I'm probably gonna get some smelly grade for Math and GP will need to sorta counter-balance it. I need it because I'm basically depending on GP to save half my future. And if you're snorting at me, you're probably damn good in Math/Physics/Chem, at which I'm a total moron, so if you're expecting an A for your Sciencey papers then dammit I need my A for GP!

I sound deranged. Which I probably am anyways. Or close. I'm typing on and on and on because I don't want to go back to my books/notes/files. This slash thing is really fun. It's my second favrouite to brackets. (Like this.) Hahaha, okay I think I'm getting annoying.

By the way, there's another reason why I rambled on after the 'structured' post that matches the title - I really secretly still want to tell the whole world about my day. Hahaha! Now I'm really annoying.

note(s) to self

note(s) to self

Me to self: Meng, you should have learnt by now that you NEVER run out things to study/read, so really, you should stop packing half your room into your bag everytime you go out to study. And it's 16 FREAKING DAYS TO As so you should stop sleeping your weekends away! It's rather huge a proportion of time you know. Tsk!

Legs to self: You need to stop putting the feet into torturous heels when you're just going to SIT somwhere for hours. No one even looks at us. ): You need to move us fast like you used to so that we would stop expanding.

Tummy to self: Hello, I am growing fat fat fat. Things just keep coming in and you don't even do the thing that folds me into half really fast anymore. The lines on my face are gone, and all I have is a ball for a face. I am upset.

Back to self: I hate being cracked a few hundred times a day! I'm meant to walk straight, not bent like the waning moon. You know I'm the most comfortable when you're tucked into your warm bed at night. SO DO IT MORE OFTEN! Hee.

Waist to self: I AM DISAPPEARING!

Right Arm to self: My life expectancy is down to 30years old at the rate you're working me. I don't like to hold that irritating thing that leaves marks across white sheets of paper. I want to hold the heavy blue hockey stick!

Brain to self: KABOOM!

Hahaha I think this is such a brilliant post! Don't you all? :D Initially I only wanted to do the first paragraph, and then I had an epiphany. I heard all my body parts talking to me! Okay, I'm KIDDING. But yeah, that's what I imagine them to say to me now. Studying is driving me crazy. Insanity is one of the immediate negative externalities. Eeks!

Replies to tags!
Quikz - Roars roars PHAROAH! Haha you can always wear your uniform again and prance around town or something. Hahaha. :D

Anon - Hi! Thank you! (: Yeah I've decided to stop locking it for awhile. It's not a good idea for a narcissist (like me). Hee. I'm using a FujiFilm Z1 I think. But I'm thinking of getting a new one cos the shutter's getting abit slow and the battery is starting to run out rather fast.

Steph - Hello! I like reading your blog. (: I love your pictures and your bitchy moments. Hahaha. :D Yeah AC's been really fun, I wish you stayed! Oh well, we can meet up with Ashley and all the next time you're back!

Kaiyi - Yeah it's a nice picture. I think it's the sun! Hahaha. And of course you and me. We can totally ace As babe!

Zino - Of course I know! Benedict Lai Lai Lai. Hahaha. Stop trying to be mysterious, I'm smart. :D Thanks!

Everyone - Sorry if I didn't reply your tag! But it's only because either I talk to you really often, or I tag at your blog too. (: Love!

hollanders

hollanders

Once in awhile, Fran and I would meet up at Holland V for a either a relaxing afternoon or a muggish one. And almost everytime we're there, it rains. Haha. Though I must say it's pretty nice to be stuck indoors at a nice cafe on a rainy afternoon. Today, we headed there to mug mug mug for our lovely A levels.

I waited and waited for Mommy to come home to have lunch, and when I was finally ready to leave house, Fran said it was raining at her place! Alas! How could I let the rain dampen our spirits and my pretty wedges! Hahaha. So I came up with the 'okay-brilliant' plan to go pick Fran up in a cab and then head to Holland. Hee. And OMG we got the coolest cabby - we couldn't figure out where he/she is male or female the whole time. Male built, female hair, male voice, female eyebrows, male Chinese name and female Christian name (Emeline!). Exciting eh. I was pretty scared when I was on the cab alone though. Haha.

Spent the afternoon at Delifrance and I did the hardest GP paper I've ever seen in my 2years. It's the one on gay marriage if you've seen it. Very interesting passages but the questions were just killer whales. It started our conversation on our individual views on gay marriage and if they should be allowed to adopt kids. Fran thinks they'll be loving parents but I think the children deserve a normal childhood with a Dad and a Mom, not two Dads or two Moms. Pretty intellectual talk! Heh.

Shifted to Starbucks when Delifrance dimmed the lights around evening (again!). Yipee my caffeine intake of day - Caramal Frapp! I love Caramel Anything please. (: Makes me insanely happy. I think coffee from anywhere else other than Starbucks/Coffeebean is just plain bad. Bleah. Like the expensive shit at Coffee Club on Friday night with Ms Tan. Bleeeaaaah.

We were pretty happy with ourselves for the amount of work we managed to do. :D Even though I STILL brought too much stuffs. Hahaha. Somehow we're more productive there than we are in school! Strange eh? Hollanding again on Monday! (:

baccalaureate's

baccalaureate's service

There was an extra bounce in my steps as I headed to school for the last time as an official student of ACJC. It didn't even matter that I was still lazy with sleep, or that the early morning traffic was a pain. I just wanted to get to school very much (after skipping two mornings). I targetted to be earlier than usual, and failed miserably as usual. Haha, some things just don't change, I guess.

It felt like Valentine's Day when I stepped into the hall. Flowers, balloons, cookies, chocolates, cards, camera flashes, hugs, screams, and everything that says "I love you so much, my friends." It was abit overwhelming, until I found my own classmates right in the front! (: Cos then I get my share of love! Haha. I also immediately knew that it was gonna be hard sitting through the whole Service without crying.

The choir sang the National Anthem louder than usual. I opened my mouth to say the Pledge instead of just slapping my fist over my heart in silence. The teachers led worship and at some points in time I just had to look down and block everything out or else I'd have cried. We talked and giggled and took a whole bunch of photos. There were various speeches and I loved Mr. Lu Ming Yaw's (I hope I got the nice guy's name right) teary one and Ms. Tan's light-hearted one. They made a slideshow for us and I wished I was less lazy and sent in photos. The captains, vice-captains, presidents and vice-presidents went on stage to led "Find Us Faithful" and the College Anthem. Fran, Kaiyi and I hid behind the tall boys because we didn't really know how to sing. Service ended with "Friends Are Friends Forever" and omg it was so freaking hard not to cry and I just had to squeeze in between the aisle to go stand with Sheryll, Shu and Mel. I love you girls! (: Everyone went mad and stood on chairs and folded the programme into paper planes and flew them all around. Mr. Joel Mak warned us about the danger of planes flying into our eyes. Hahaha. It was a very warm and touching affair.

Then the Arts Fac trooped to LT2 for our very own exclusive mini-Baccalaureate's thing. I think it was very thoughtful of the Arts Council to organise it for us, a get together for the coolest people in the school. :D Haha! But honestly we do have a coolass Arts Faculty, and one of the best in Singapore, I daresay. It's a creative, fun, vibrant, cosy and different Faculty and I am very proud to have been part of it, even though I'm no artsy-fartsy girl. Cheers for us Arts people! (: And the general public should STOP thinking we're dumber than the Science kids because we are simply not. Try writing 6 A-grade Lit essays for your freaking A levels! Haha!

After that it was a mad rush around school to get pictures taken with everyone along the way. I kept losing my classmates and it was so super tiring to run all over the plce looking for them only to lose them again. Hahaha. Camwhoring has never been such a huge issue. After an hour and about a hundred pictures later, we were finally out of school. Oh oh, and the stupid boys decided that we're going out by the backgate AFTER I rushed all the way to the front gate to look for them! We had to scale the gate in our school skirts and it was the most unglam thing with lots of squeals and screams and OMGTHEWIND! Haha to think the last time I did that was during the first three months.

Lunch at Vivo with the class and we ate at some exorbitantly priced place with unimpressive food. Haha. Pranced around and browsed through the much-missed favourite shops of F21, Topshop, River Island and such before sharing a cab back with Shu since I just couldn't figure out how to get to Yiting's place by bus. Heh.

It was a good day, and a good 2 years. I love AC! And here are the photoooos. The rest are here.

The teachers leading Worship. Oh, I'm gonna miss Chapel.

All the J2 teachers singing some song for us. (:

IVAN THE MARIKITA BOY!

Hahaha us fooling around.

Yay I love these girls! (:

See, everyone got crazy and stood on their chairs!

Hahaha I was sufficiently crazy too.

I like this picture!

With the two Fencers!

Hockey people. (:

The BEST PE teacher!

Phuay Phuay Phuay. Phuay Liying!

Me, Shu, Wen, Carol, Mel & Sheryll!

Sarah and I with Max and Hugo.

Hahaha with the COOLEST Econs + Form teacher!

My two small friends - Shiyan and Ashley. (:

Oops, I got my J the wrong way. HAHA.

Ambrose! And Sarah looks like my second head popping out.

Sammie Sammie, I love you! (:

Vice-Captains! So glad for you, love.

HweeYi, Peiyan, me, Joyce and Sijay at the back.

The famous twin models, one of which our annoying classmate. :D

With Adeline!

Bevvvvy! My OG mate and left back. (:

Marc Malone! I like this boy's name. Haha.

Shahboo & Mel!

Hahaha climbing the backgate.

Superstars! (:
