freedom, somewhat

freedom, somewhat

I was in town on Thursday afternoon, eating Sushi with my dear classmates and fighting with XiangUn over passing the Soy Sauce.

I saw the CHRISTMAS TREES in town!

I woke up at 2pm on Friday (proving Ms Tan's prediction true), guilt free!

I lazed around the whole day, watching tv endlessly, drifting in and out of sleep.

I swam with Sarah this morning and rented movies!

Weeheehee YES MY ALEVELS ARE OVER! :D Oh wells, almost almost. 9more days and one last damn paper left and I'll be officially FREEEEE! (: But I don't care, I'm already free free free from Math, Geog, GP, Econs and Lit Paper 1. I am so happy!

And I'm also really happy and thankful that I woke up in time to study for Human Geog! I just couldn't squeeze anything into my brain the night after Econs, so I decided to go and sleep at 9.30pm, hoping to wake up sometime between 2 - 3am. Being the usual pig that I am, I did wake up at 2am, 2.15am, 2.30am, 3am AND STILL WENT BACK TO SLEEP!

Then I had the scariest dream about a totally blank mind at Human Geog paper, and then I woke up. I had the sinking feeling in my stomach - Oh no, I bet it's 6am and I'm gonna flunk this paper and this is my A levels! But when I checked my phone, it said 3.53am! Thank goodness! And the Homelessness thing I read came out for essay. So yay. :D

I simply CANNOT wait for 26th to come! You lucky people who have ended already, don't even say a word!

crown the end

crown the end

Okay so I couldn't think of a title and stole the last three words from Duchess of Malfi. Haha. Pip, Joe, Biddy, Ferdinand, Magwitch, Antonio, Estella, Cariola and the Duchess have been driving all of us mad. Here's proof:

Vannie: Eh, why is Pip called Handel now ah?
Malone: Uhh, cos Pip is too weird a name for him to Handel!

And quoting from Fran's blog:

If you remove the ip from Pip and change to B from Biddy to D, then put it together,
YOU GET P.DIDDY! -I was staring at their names too long last night.)
Even more sadly, i actually found it hilariously funny.

To that Malone said, "How about MacBitch!"

I asked him why not MagBitch, and he confessed he was craving for Macs! Boys! And by the way, we are both craving for curly fries please.

Which reminds me of Jiajun's comment on Magwitch's name - New sandwich from Macs ah?

Hahaha! Fine, it's not so funny when you put all of them together, but each of these on its own was hilarious at that point of time, when my head was swarmed with assonance, tragic heroes, black comedy, hamartia, alliteration and whatnot.

But I really do like Lit.

Which explains why I was sobbing at 2am in the morning reading about the kindness of good old Joe (ever the best of friends!) and the death of the Duchess. That'll also explain why I was laughing madly by myself at Ferdinand's complete madness - one moment thinking he's a King at battle and the next imagining himself to be the horse that he summoned for!

Plus the GE passage that came out contains my favourite line from the whole book! :D I like it so much it's on my Friendster profile. See, you should always pay attention to what I write. Haha!

I just realised how completely lame (for the lack of a better word) this entry will look to someone who doesn't take Lit. I am lame. ):

Oh no, there's Econs tomorrow and I haven't exactly studied for it or Human Geog on Thursday morning too! I've been sleeping and watching TV way too much. How, I've been so unmotivated. I'm behaving like this is Terms or something. Rahs. I hate reading about TNCs and NGOs because end of the day all the treaties are bloody useless and superficial BECAUSE ALL EVERYONE WANTS IS AN EXTRA DOLLAR IN THE WALLET. Am I not right? Bleah, I'm angsty from having to read about their hypocritical attempts to appear helpful and nice and caring about the starving kids in Africa. They probably really don't give a fuck.

Crap, I just used the word fuck for nothing in particular. But I'm not gonna delete it, no. This entry shall be proof that A levels nearly drove me nuts. Nearly, but not quite.

I can't believe after Thursday I'll only have one paper left after a 10day break. I've been looking forward to this for so long, but now I don't feel like I've studied quite enough to be coming to the end of my A levels.

I should really get my ass out of here and study study study. And I really shouldn't read emo blogs before I write my own.

the santa claus approach

the santa claus approach

A few days back, when I was playing the role of the Midnight Msner (ie being online in the middle of the night), a random guy offered me a "gift out of randomness". Those words are from the horse's mouth okay, after I rejected his first suggestion of a birthday present since my birthday is technically pretty far away.

I had a feeling his idea of gifts had something to do with jewellery, because moments ago he was desperately trying to sustain a conversation on diamonds and stars while I was getting ready to go offline.

Anyways, I got abit freaked out over the "gift out of randomness" thing, and this was how the rest of the conversation went:

H: Then can I offer you a gift out of randomness?
M: Thanks, but I don't think so. We don't even know each other!
H: Well, did Santa Claus know you before he sent you your present?

I was like OMG!!! That is clever and freaky at the same time! What if this is a serial internet stalker who has like an encyclopedia of Online Pick Up Lines in front of him! Then I searched my brainy brain for something witty and embarassing to shoot back at him. (I'll shall share the How He Ended Up on My MSN List Story later.)

M: Well, if you would be so kind as to drop it down my chimney, then why thank you.
H: Hmm, then you gotta enlighten me on where on earth is your chimney?
(That ass had the cheek to ask for my address!)
M: Hmm, I don't remember Santa Claus asking for my address before sending me my gift! Anyways, I think I'll go sit by the fireplace now, Bye!

Hahaha! I was rather pleased with my reply. :D I hope the stupid stalker is utterly embarassed. But seriously, it was a tad too freaky and got me thinking about accepting unknown friends on Friendster. I'm typing all these now because I took the advice of a friend and changed the password to the spare account I have (so that my friends without Blogger can read this, and I stupidly gave it to him when he asked!), deleted him off my Friendster account and changed the settings to One Degree Friends Only, blocked and deleted him off my Msn and took some pictures off Friendster as well.

So here's how I ended up with him on my MSN list.

Initially he added me on Friendster. His profile had only a baby picture, and his name was Marc Ong. Even after he aded me on Msn and started chatting with me, I thought he was the rugger Mark Ong from our school all along! (Even the baby photo bears abit of resemblance okay.) And that guy just pretended to be Mark Ong all the time because I think it was pretty evident that I mistook him for someone else when I asked "Are you Mark Ong?" the first time I chatted with him! And he just played along when I talk about school and stuffs!

OMG!!! What insolence! Hahahaha. I love this standard Hong Kong drama serial court intrigue line.

All was well until one day it struck me that, this guy is WEIRD! He doesn't sound like Mark Ong and is just plain weird! So I decided to check out his Friendster profile again and realised FREAK, HE'S FROM RV THEN CJC AND IS IN THE ARMY NOW! (At least that's what the profile says. We'll never know the truth.) Schoolmate my ass.

From then on I only reply him once in awhile when I'm in a good/polite mood. That is, until he wanted to be the non-Christmas season Santa Claus, and when I saw at least 7 "WHO ARE YOU?" comments on his first-page Friendster profile.

Freaky Internet!

the good old library

the good old library

We abandoned our usual Holland V Delifrance for the good old Jurong East Library today. New record - we met at 9.30am! For breakfast! Like proper Macs breakfast and not brunch! :D Okay, we were really supposed to meet at 9am but considering I was so addicted to the stupid computer I only went to sleep at 4.30am, it's a miracle!

When I woke up and saw the time - 8.50am, I was like OMG FRAN IS ALREADY OUT OF THE HOUSE AND WHAT AM I DOING HERE! Hahaha then I threw myself into the shower, pulled out some clothes from the wardrobe (luckily I didn't choose a major clash like red and green or something), slapped on makeup so that I won't scare anyone out there, dumped some stuffs into my bag and off I went! I was running (okay fine, briskwalking) for a cab by 9.15am.

Shit, how come it doesn't sound as efficient after I typed it out! But my Mom was amazed so I don't care, I was efficient. Hahaha. When I yelled Bye to her, she was like "What?? You're getting of the house already? But you were still in bed when I was in the shower! Hey! Oh well, okay Byebye!" Hahaha see so I was efficient.

So efficient that I managed to catch the 2bucks surcharge on the cab 10mins before it ended! Grah. Serve my own lazy ass right.

Fang saved seats for us while we had our breakfast and then it was lunch break with Vannie! Omg it was the most bimbotic lunch break I'll ever have in my life, I swear. We dropped by Watson's to buy tummy ache pills for Vannie and mineral water and then OMG there's Mascara's Special this week! Fran got extremely stressed up over which colour to buy (there were a grand total of 4. Haha!) so we decided to come try again after lunch.

So then after lunch she decided that she wanted Black instead of Blue and I decided on Dark Brown and then OMG AGAIN we came across cute little bottles of nail polish! It was another round of the old brainless Oh-dear-what-colour-should-I-get-I-really-like-this-but-it-wouldn't-match-my-clothes-so-how-and-is-this-really-2bucks? When we finally gathered our colours, we discovered that the bloody puny things were 6bucks each. Hahaha! So in the end we only got our mascaras. And we got 10bucks off! Okay, so it was Buy 1 Get 1 Free but yeah, still 10bucks off!

When we finally got back Augustine was like "Wah, you'all went for buffet ah?" Haha! But hey, we made it up with a pretty productive evening! Tragic comedies and melodrama and Rolls-Royce and economies of scale and whatnot. I feel so smart reading the huge Lit reference books in the library. :D

We're gonna try for another miralce tmr! 9am sharp!

Oh oh! And Francine Chye's quote of the day during lunch:
Fran looks at her soup and said "Eew, this looks like dead fish soup."
I looked and asked "Hmm, so you expected a live one?"
And Vannie just couldn't stop laughing. Hahaha!

Post-Script: I look like crap in the photo. ))): I wanna go for a proper tan please! And have more than 3minutes for makeup in the morning.

planning for prom already

planning for prom already

So this is what I've been doing with my 6day break before the next 3 (very important) papers. Hahaha! We've been planning for Prom already! Okay fine, my classmates and I are planning the hotel/transport part and I've been sourcing for nice dresses/shoes/hairstyles/makeup etc online, since I can't go shopping just yet!

I found a great website with really pretty dresses! :D (Explains the photos above.)

At the moment, I am very unsatisfied with my life. I want long&slim legs (damn the tall girls in flats with the face that says "Hmph! Too bad I look hotter than you even in flats!"). I want a rich and generous ang-moh boyfriend (Mel! :D). I want an unlimited budget for Prom (links to the rich boyfriend part). I want deepset eyes and a nice nose bridge. I want a honey-tone tan. I want flawless skin. I want my exams to be over!

Roars, shopping online and looking at the way-too-perfect photos of "average-looking" models in pretty dress while I sit here in my old teeshirt and fbts is breeding a huge amount of malcontent in me. Bad!

Anyways to justify my wasting of precious studytime to look at prom things online, I found this Prom Checklist somewhere! Look, you're supposed to start planning FOUR months in advance. Which means I am 3entire months late already! Count this as some catching up done! :D You can take a look at the Checklist thing too! I think it helps abit here and there. (:

for you

for you

Do you still look out of the window from your room?
Cos somewhere I'm looking at the same sky.
When the photograph has faded and you can't see,
Just look at the stars we used to trace.

I may not remember the taste of your kiss;
I may have forgotten the arch of your back.
But the stars each night they light up all the same
And there you'll always see the words we wrote.

I'll always be here but you can't stay.
Dream your nights but go live your days.
There'll be times when you'll forget but that's okay,
We know what we've written in the stars.

Do you still look back at the things we used to do?
Cos you seem so sad, there're tears in your eyes.
When the memories are old and you can't hold on,
Just look at the stars we used to trace.

I may not remember the taste of your kiss;
I may have forgotten the arch of your back.
But the stars each night they light up all the same
And there you'll always see the words we wrote.

I'll always be here but you can't stay.
Dream your nights but go live your days.
There'll be times when you'll forget but that's okay,
We know what we've written in the stars.

We got lost in the world but I'm not gone,
I didn't mean to leave but I couldn't stay,
The angels they called and I had to go.
But no I'm not gone, I'm among the stars.

Don't go looking for the brightest, baby no,
They burn the fastest and they won't last.
I've left you once and I won't do it twice.
For you I'll just shine a little each night.

I may not remember the taste of your kiss;
I may have forgotten the arch of your back.
(Oh baby, please forgive me.)
But the stars each night they light up all the same
And there you'll always see the words we wrote.

I'll always be here but you can't stay.
Dream your nights but go live your days.
There'll be times when you'll forget but that's okay,
We know what we've written in the stars.

stoner no more!

stoner no more!

That's how I studied Geog - "Okay okay, until the next place for a sticker then you rest!" Hahaha it's pretty cheap thrill but it worked! Somewhat, at least for Atmo and Mass Movements.

And now, I DON'T HAVE TO DO IT ANYMORE! (((: Geography geography you're so out of my life. The physical part at least. :D I can look at the sky at not think about ERLs, walk pass grass patches without thinking about soil creeping and watching impressive volcanic eruptions without thinking about Peelean, Plinian or Strambolian! And most importantly I can stop dreaming about landslides already. I dreamt about the damn thing at least 3 times this week! Hee! I am so happy to stash the whole stack of notes into the deepest end of my cupboards.

Now I can tangibly feel like all the information seeping out of my brain. I have to keep coaxing the grey matter up there that it's okay, it's okay, you can let go of energy equilibrium and feldspar and African climates already.

I was seriously going mad studying Geog. I sit at the dining table with the window behind me and with the monsoonal winds blow at my hair all day and the river notes in front of me, and I constantly feel like I'm on a boat. I crammed one-third of the whole freaking syllabus into my head this morning. I studied while I eat, shower, put on my uniform, apply toner and moisturiser, walk around the house, pack my bag, wear my socks and shoes and on the cab. It was insane.

The paper was Okay I guess. Not as bad as I feared it would be, but not as smooth-going as I would have liked either. My hand was so extremely tired! But I should be alright, I hope! (: Come tomorrow this time I'll be delirious cos then NO MORE MATH IN MY LIFE! :D Wheee!

evening jogs

evening jogs

Even though I don't like to run generally, jogging has been really good for me during the exam period. Firstly and most importantly, it stops me from growing into too huge a blob of fats. Hahaha. It also takes my mind off things and burn off all the pent-up energy from studying the whole day. I simply cannot just be coped up at home all day long and therefore getting out of the house in the evening is a good thing. It's also a good way to relax the day before a paper, and it helps me sleep better at night. :D Wow!

I've been dragging my brother along with me, and ocassionally he rides the bike while I jog because we think the route to the park in the next estate is abit too long for the 11yrold to cope. But today, he bugged me to go jogging with him instead! Like, both of us run there and back. I was quite worried that we'll be stranded halfway cos it's really quite far, but THAT BOY RUNS FASTER THAN ME! Omg. Hahaha okay he runs ahead and then stops to walk abit while I catch up and then he runs ahead again, but still, woah!

Have I mentioned that I really like the park there? (And that I got lost for an entire hour the first time I headed there because I was without my phone and money. Hahaha!) It's like a route around a huge field and there's another huge field on the other side before the treeline starts. Sometimes when the sky is cloudless and vast I feel like I've reached the end of the world. (: Very good for the soul. I keep thinking I'll head down earlier one day with my camera to get a nice picture but I just cannot get out of the house before 6.30pm. Haha. And I'm abit apprehensive about jogging with a camera without looking like a total idiot. Yes, even for me. :D

Anyways! We saw this couple having a picnic in the middle of the huge grasspatch and I was telling my brother, see people do have picnics! (A few days ago I went mad and ask him to bring lunch down to the grassy areas to have a picnic with me and he looked to the ceiling and said "My sister is siaosiao. She wants to copy Banglas." Hahaha.) And he said "Must be bangla and maid la." At 11yrsold!! I can't believe how childish and grownup my brother can be at the same time sometimes.

Well, to back his case, the couple were sitting next to the big drain that runs in the middle of the field. There were benches at the exercise park, there was the edge of the field facing the other field where people fly model aeroplanes and kites, there were so many other options but they chose to sit facing the DRAIN. I told Luddy and she said "Maybe they're planning to get IN the drain after it gets dark..." Hahaha!

Now I'm just glad I'm the one running past and not the one having the crazy romantic picnic. :D But I STILL want to go to the Botanic Gardens to have a nice, non-drainside picnic after the exams!

escape artiste

escape artiste

You see the rock with the white top on the right?
These sea gulls love to gather there, and it's quite a pretty site.
BUT, those white stuffs are BIRD SHIT. :D

All of us in the water! :D

Snorkelling away. It was great responsiblity to take care of two kids.
When you're freaking scared of the damn fishes.

I look stunningly like my Mom!

A pretty picture of the fishes.
But I think I like them FAR AWAY from me. Hahaha!

But SO MANY!
I was utterly terrified and I kept screaming through the pipe thing.
But I really like snorkelling! With the fishes near the bottom.

Happy and satisfied to be out of the water!

On another beautiful beach. (:

At the Marine Park place, feeding the fish!

Hahaha the two of them are super cute together, methinks. :D

I REALLY want to do this now, please.

One of my favourite beach activities.

Hoho, how glam.

And the works of the waves is amazing, says the Geog student.

Water colour. (:

Sunset, sunset.
And then night came.

I think I'm a great escape artiste. I slip away from ugly situations, I hide from things I don't like, I come up with the bests excuses to retreat into my comfort zone. I didn't remember myself to be like that, but somewhere along the line, it has just become so easy. I guess it has come to a point where I'm realising that I don't have to fight every battle, just the ones that matter, just the ones that I need to win. The rest of the time, I just don't like to be out there too much.

It's the same when it comes to studying. My body seems to have its own defence mechanism. It was so difficult to study Math today, because every stumbling question I come across, I don't get irritated, or daunted, but I feel SLEEPY. Hahaha how terrible. But in the end I still managed to finish the Specimen Paper, sort of, and look through some other papers. The Specimen Paper says I'm hovering around a B (with breaks in between my extended 3hrs and extreme comfort of the home though but never mind), so yes I shall believe I'm a B. (:

Right now, in the middle of the exams, I just really want to run away for one day. There, the escape artiste at work again. Therefore the holiday pictures. :D There are supposed to be more, but I figure I really need to be sleeping soon, so tomorrow! I feel more relaxed already. (: But yeah the point is I feel so deprived and sick of staying at home I've already planned my outfit for Saturday's study date with Fran. Hahaha! Oh wells, I am really bored of wearing t-shirt and shorts the whole daaay.

Enough escapism for one night. My brains are free enough from Math to have a good night's sleep now and come tomorrow I WILL BE A MATH GENIUS! I hope my G.C doesn't run out of battery or something. I already forgot to replace the battery in my normal calculator. Hahaha. But I am so insanely happy that Math is gonna be out of my life for good soon. Soon, soon.

Oh oh and I might wanna mention that I'm totally in love with Michael Buble's "Home". Especially the line "I'm fine, baby how're you?" It's. Just. So. Sweet. -Swoons. Your words are cold and flat, and too polite.
