coffee & drinks

coffee & drinks

Friday night, I met Sarah and Hweeyi at Starbucks to study before heading to Loof for some drinks, and to collect our pay! All of us were completely stressed out by our school work. ): We were so glad when Peiyan came to join us before it was finally time to close those books!

It was cool to see everyone again, find out how things are going and everyone is. I completely understand why the rooftop bar is such a hot hang-out now. The ambience is great for Friday night chillout sessions! The music is just right, the drinks are good and the view is lovely. We even caught the post-National Day fireworks in comfort!

Our first-time at Loof as customers, and I think we've got the best experience. Nothing beats sipping a strawberry magarita, being in the company of some of my favourite girls, and wowing at the fireworks in the night sky. Absolutely nothing. (:

Camwhoring with Hweeyi's Mac at Starbucks.
I like this light-tunnel effect!

Yeah, go ahead and say fuuugggly. Hahaha.

And Sarah's classic funny photos. HAHA.
She's gonna kill me for this one.

All of us! Credit to Sarah's excellent self-shot skills.
And my camera doesn't even have wide lens.

Peiyan, Sarah & Hweeyi on the other side.

A posey shot of me, on the other.

Girlfriends rock!

I took lousy pictures of the fireworks.

I think is is the best one, right before my camera died. Haha.

Doesn't stop our camwhoring though!

And I shall end off with a normal shot!

sunday evening

sunday evening

Dinner on a Sunday evening, the crowd milling around us.

Browsing through books, shoulder to shoulder.

A walk down Orchard road after the rain, bright lights glistening.

Sipping tea at Starbucks, 11pm at night.

Tarot cards spread, exploring possibilties.

The future, a hused secret in front of us.

It's a lovely feeling.

jam & hop

jam & hop

A few weeks back, I popped by Jam & Hop, the NUS Business with Sarah and Hweeyi. The event itself was so-so, we weren't even very interested in what was going on stage most of the time. We just sat at the back, chatting, sipping drinks and camwhoring.

Met up with Liying, Shiyan, Eleen, Glenn Chee, Malone, Nick, Daryl and more of the AC gang afterwards to celebrate Glenn's birthday. It's funny how it's an NUS event, but we're still hanging out with our JC friends more. I really miss school back then, where everyone knew everyone else.

We had more drinks to go around, did silly dance moves around the table and took a million and one photos. I had fun! (: And I hope you did too, birthday boy! Happy 19th birthday! Grow up and stop wearing your leopard prints and shaving all your hair off already! :D Just to say goodnight.

Party picture with my Biz babes!

With the Khoo. Haha.

And my pretty babes!

Hahaha the gay boys - Nick, Daryl and Glenn.

Phuay and I, with Malone the sleepy drunkard.

The birthday boy!

Most of us, slacking on the couch.

I have funny friends. :D

With Daryl Tay!

Hahaha flaunting their grooves.

Down the row.

The red lights at the entrance makes it look so seedy!

Then a proper photo.

All of us girls!
This mirror shot is editted and I think the effect is way cool!

And finally, before hopping onto a cab home.
I love this picture! (:

first week of school

first week of school

First week of school and I'm already overwhelmed! There are notes to prepare, textbooks to source for, tutorials to arrange, CCAs to go for, forms to submit and a whole of things to do. Uni life is completely independent, and I'm so not used to it yet.

I had 5 lectures this week, and I was late for almost of them. Haha. The school is too bloody big and I keep getting lost. Once, I even ended up in the wrong faculty somehow. And I still can't figure out how long does it take me to get to school exactly!

Paying attention in class hasn't been so much of a problem, because I've been going for half my classes on my own. I HAVE NO FRIENDS. ): So far, I've made 2 friends. Hahaha pathetic huh! Okay, I will stop being a social hermit and start poking my head out of my shell more. BE MY FRIEND, EVERYBODY YO!

Thank goodness all my modules are pretty interesting though. I'm taking Sociology, Literature, Nature of Language, French and Cultural Studies this semester. And so far, I like what I'm learning! (: Except that I sound like I'm speaking a combination of Tamil, Arabic and Hokkien when I attempt to get my tongue around French.

Classes aside, I've been having alot of fun in school too. I met Sarah for a swim and lunch between classes one day, and then Glenn for a short tea, and Nut for a long lunch another, and Peiyan for a buffet lunch after school today. :D

I've also gone for 2 touch rugby trainings! I like the sport alot, but it's SO tiring. I can hardly climb a flight of stairs without wincing now. Even the muscles that I didn't know existed are aching! Haha. I'm also looking at floorball and netball, so I'll decide after all the trials and stuff. It's probably gonna be touch though!

So, with all that, I had a pretty cool first week! Mission for next week: Make more friends. Haha. And for now... IT'S THE WEEKEND! (Yes, I don't have classes on Fridays!)

double L

double L

Of the 2 L plates on my car today, I only managed to take away 1. Which means, I FAILED. Miserably at that.

I think Kaiyi and I probably broke BBDC's record - we both came in with 44 freaking points. HAHA. And fyi, you need to keep it below 20 to pass.

It was actually going pretty well for me until I was on Bukit Batok Road, heading back to BBDC. I was alomst there! Then there was a whole series of unfortunate events like me veering off course, and then this irritating yellow sports car that decided to accelerate like it was trying to take off or something, and the instructor scolding me, and eventually my negligence of blind spot which led to my almost crashing into another car.

So yeah, 30points in 30 seconds for me. Oh wells, better luck next time!

ring the fashion police

ring the fashion police

We had a very Weird Night about 2 weeks back on National Day, on our very own accord. It's not the usual string of bizzare things happening to me as they commonly do, but we decided to take on the clubbing fashion scene by the storm.

Without solid plans, and by that I mean we didn't even fix a time to meet or place to go, our night kicked off at a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend's house, with too much drinks to go around. By the time we left, I didn't even know who was the hospitable person. Haha!

Done with our transformation (aside from alcohol, read: fishnets, hockey socks, taekwando belts and geeky specs), we trooped off to Silva's for another round of drinks, and some crazy partying. The music was loud, the drinks were plenty, the people were fun - what else do you need?

We were walking fashion disasters, and tipsy ones at that. Everywhere we went, people stared. Haha! But I guess I would too, if I see someone decked out in bright yellow hockey socks and black stilletoes. Thank goodness no one called the fashion police! Or maybe cos I took those socks off halfway through the night. Hahaha. Too embarassing, even for me!

Sorry, shy about my weirdness.

The young Botanist (Vannie was donning the badge, you know one of those you get in primary school? Really.) and the combination of random weird items. Hahaha.

With Shiyan & Glenn Chee!

And so the drinks went round and round.

Beside Eleen Skinny Khoo, I think I look like a footballer or something.

The socks people: Red, Blue & Gold!

Weirdoes of the world unite.

With Eleen, who never takes a photo smiling.

Who's the weirdest of them all?
The gay couple, and the confused girl.

He who stole my cap on the cab. Haha!
PUN SO INTENDED.

Everyone loves a weird Afro.

Aren't we such fashion gurus?

Hahaha and finally I present you the superstar boys.

6 days of madness (day 1)

6 days of madness (day 1)

Okay I've finally gotten around to updating about the Sports Camp! I can't believe it's been a month already. It felt like last week or something. I spent so long looking through the pictures on Facebook and picking some to post. There are so many! At least 20 albums from all over the place.

I will do a summary of day-to-day accounts, and elaborate on funny moments with the pictures. It's the easiest way out, but it's been a very long camp. Haha.

Day 1 was pretty relaxed. Andee (my retarded OGL) called me at 9am and I was still in bed. Haha! So I arrived an hour and a half late, halfway through the icebreaking games. Later on there were the violent pool games and a series of sports (with all their glorious forfeits) for us to try.

My OG, Samurais, was slack right from the start. We do minimum cheering, we don't care if we lose, and best of all, we cheat when it comes to the fun games. HAHA. But I think I had the most fun this way. We're probably the most bonded OG, because we were always more interested in ourselves than whatever the committee organised for us. Hee.

The gay boys, with their nails painted red cos it's our House colour.

In the pool, looking rather glam with Gerry.

The Bitch Fight Game.

I honestly think the OGLs came up with this game for the sake of their own entertainment. It's pure bitch fight! Here's how it goes. The girls are supposed to sit on the guys' shoulders, and wear a swim cap of different colours. When they call for Green, the green caps from each side will go forward, and girl A will try and rip off girl B's cap. What can you expect other than bitch fight right!

I did not like the game at all, and let me tell you why. The first round was pretty okay still. The girl was all friendly and completely meek, and I got her cap off in seconds. Now the second round was the polar opposite. The girl was fierce, determined and a cheater bug. She splashed water at me when we started towards her, and when I got hold her her swim cap, she PLAYED CHEAT by holding on to it!

Now, I know I sound about 8yrsold but you have to indulge a girl when she's bitching. So let me continue. As if that wasn't bad enough, SHE REACHED OUT TO SCRATCH MY FACE because she couldn't reach my cap! And when I pushed her hand away, SHE TUGGED MY BIKINI! My goodness! I was so totally pissed off, I tell you. All fair in love and war, BUT YOU JOLLY WELL DO NOT SCRATCH MY FACE AND TUG MY BIKINI!

By then, she's gotten her hold on my swim cap already. And me, being me (in fact a highly pissed off me), held her small little head underwater for about 6seconds and she still didn't let go! Until she ripped off my swim cap. I admit defeat in the bitch fight. Seriously, what was wrong with her!

And so, that's the Bitch Fight Game for you.

That's Nut, looking super cute in her canoe polo get-up.

This was such a Zohan moment. Hahaha.

Squinting in the sun, strategizing.

Another of the games created soley for the entertainment of the organisers, I think.

Diving for mahjon tiles and Poker cards.
Our OG was a big cheat at this game. We stole the other team's tiles. HAHA.

Freshies in the front, and OGLs at the back.
We were still somewhat glam back then, on Day 1. Haha.

We had a try at archery. It's surprisingly tiring!

At the martial arts demonstration at night.
I had the most kick out of being able to kick people for free. Hahaha.

And then the dreaded mass dance at midnight.

TO BE CONTINUED!

sitting and watching

sitting and watching

I was sitting at an old hawker centre at 10am in the morning, having a hearty Singaporean breakfast of porridge, wanton mee and fresh coconut juice. Old buildings around me stood derelict, in the midst of demolishment, each with a story half told. With the sunshine in my eyes, and the old school fan lifting my hair, I watched people mill around me.

Aunties paraded around the quadrangle in their funny colour-coordinated get-ups. Old men exhibited their queerest habits without qualms. Grandparents strolled in the morning sun with their toddler grandchildren, skipping a whole generation. Pregnant women boasted their swelling bellies lazily.

The most normal of days playing out in a heartland, yet so rare a moment to sit down without a care in the world to watch it all go by. I felt so young, as if youth became tangible in that second. It was a luxury, almost, before I disppear into that missing generation and get caught in a madly busy lifestyle.

In this last week of carefree days, it's a good place to be. Knee to knee, I smiled at the laughter in your eyes.
