the runaway office kids

the runaway office kids

On the 3rd day of my first job, I ran up to the HR department at about 10am in the morning to tell that I WANT TO QUIT. Hahaha! I'm serious. Yiting and I were so sick of doing (or not knowing how to do) the Tax Compilation stuffs that we decided to just give it up.

Anyways, the initial plan was to quit at the end of this month, because I think technically you cannot quit on the 3rd day. Then after we came back to wait for a confirmation from HR, and the bitch of a manager (there are 3 - one's bochup, one's really nice, and one's a byyyyatch!) came and scold me for using too much MSN and all and dumped another file on me AND we found out that the ENTIRE OFFICE found out that we wanted to quit and they all started being super nice to me and everything! We were so pissed and embarassed - now we wanted to quit IMMEDIATELY. I didn't even want my two and a half days' worth of pay anymore. I just wanted to Go Home.

So with half an hour left to lunch break, I started typing my very first rather impressive-souding resignation letter of my life on the computer while Manager Bitch walked up and down my desk. Hahaha we were so damn determined to just leave. And I practically demanded that we get our 2days' pay in the letter as well. We wanted to leave it on Manger Nice's desk while she went to lunch (so that we can just not come back after lunch) but I think managers don't have lunch or something! We waited until 1.30pm (lunch is at 1pm) and they were all still in the office!

While we were laughing away at our corny letter and whines and how spoilt we both really are, Manger Nice walked into Yiting's office! Immediately we stashed the letter away and looked all polite and stuffs. Hahaha WHAT HAPPENED TO THE "I QUIT!" ATTITUDE?! We're such wusses. She was indeed very nice and found out that we weren't actually Accounting students and have no intention of studying Accountancy whatsoever, and so she gave us Admin jobs to do instead! :D

The moment she left the office Yiting told me to "dump that letter in the ocean when I got onto the cruise later". Haha! We're such funny idiots.

Well, at least something good came out of our honest attempt to resign. Brainless admin work is so much worth $6.50/hr than the tedious auditing shit. And because we thought it's gonna be the last day of work for us, we took photos of our temple-like building and Yiting's OFFICE. Haha!

Picture of our depressed moods.

The dragons outside our office building.

The Grand Entrance. See, it really looks like a temple right!

Hahaha are you surprised that it has a lift?

My pathetic little desk and pile of info to dig through.

Yiting hard at work in her very own office!

Yes, me scowling at you.
How can anyone be happy when even your neck looks fat! Neh.

money is hard-earned

money is hard-earned

Oh my new job sucks! ): I am working at an AUDITING firm. Can you believe it? Me, with a U for Math (for Prelims at least), doing auditing work? And to top it up, I’m attached to the Tax Department. The only thing I know about Tax, is that the GST is 7%, and it took me 2minutes to even recall what GST stands for.

I’m supposed to look through the audited accounts (which is thicker than the stupid Geog notes) and do up a new Financial Statement for 2007 based on last year’s file. That also means I have to balance the accounts, find the source of expenditure and income, and I really don’t think you want to hear the rest. Hahaha and I only have my H1 Economics knowledge, which unfortunately, offers no help. It’s terrible. I really don’t know anything at all. ):

The only consolation is that at least Yiting and I have each other at the office! I can’t imagine being this stupid and useless and bored and miserable alone. Oh, and that woman INSISTS that I mention that she has her own office! At least no one can see what’s she’s doing on the computer from outside, unlike me! And she’s making full use of her privilege, I tell you – playing Checkers, MSNing, reading blogs and watching YouTube! Hahaha I can’t imagine what will happen if our boss reads this. Heh.

But then again, whatever, we’re actually really hoping to get fired anyways. We even came up with a whole list of ways to get ourselves fired. Ranging from bitching about the boss in Yiting’s office (the boss is next door) to MSNing the whole day just to clock in the hours and get our pay to coming back at 5pm for lunch. Hahaha! And it’s only the 2nd day.

Frankly, the only thing I enjoy about the job is choosing clothes from my Mom’s wardrobe and planning the whole week’s outfit! LOL. Yay I am going to wear a dress tomorrow with my new cropped jacket. (Which Mommy bought me for the job. Haha!) And by this time tomorrow, I’ll be running off to HabourFront to zip away on a cruise. I. Cannot. Wait.

OOH AND IT'S 6PM!!! I am so OUT of here! Byebye! 6pm has never felt so gooooooood!

head over heels

head over heels

You know you're hopelessly in love when you're sitting at your desk, holding your Prom shoes in your hand at 3am in the morning, meticulously checking out every scratch on the golden heel, and painstakingly repairing it with two bottles of nail polish after exactly 1 wear.

And that, my friends, was exactly what I was doing in the wee hours on my Sunday.

3-part saturday

3-part saturday

1. 2hrs of 'Hello Sir/Mdm, may I help you?'
Like last Saturday, I spent this one earning my own bucks too! (: Nothing to do with gaming at all this time. I was a receptionist + saigang (shit job) lady at the Stroke Forum held at Biopolis. We had to wear like office clothes, ie black pants or skirt, and I swear I look like a 30yrold career woman with well-kept skin in Mommy's pencil skirt and the black office stilettoes. Can you believe that I'm gonna have to look that part Monday to Friday until I decide to quit!

Oh, I don't think I mentioned that I've a full-time job, have I? I was really gonna give up looking for a job this Decemeber and then one afternoon Yiting suddenly called me and said she's got a job for me if I can start soon! Wow! :D Yay for the money & company (I'll be working with Yiting!) and Boo for the lost freedom. Graah. I'm just gonna work till like, I've got some savings and then I'll start going on trips with friends!

2. 4hrs of Best Friend Therapy.

Yups, off to the shops we went after getting my puny 20dollar paycheck! Hahaha. Way better than going out with 80cents last week okay. This time around we could actually enjoy town without stupid dresses and shoes and bags to look for. Ooh, and we loved Far East Plaza today - it's Shoe Heaven and Budget Galore! So many nice things priced rather affordably. I think this is how it would feel like shopping in Thailand. I cannot wait for the trips!

Then my annoying office shoes started to drive me mad and the rain started to drive the crowd mad. I could feel my feet getting more deformed with each step as the narrow front squished my toes! Ouch. And gosh, the passageway from Taka to Wisma was literally jam packed! The human traffic was so bad, it took about 5seconds to move a nano step. Horrible!

But otherwise I enjoyed the day very much with Sarah. (: I'm pretty upset we won't get to go out much after we start work next week! I work from Mondays to Fridays and that woman works on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Super bad schedules. But it's okay, we WILL still go out somehow.

3. 3hrs of Being Bossed Around By a 2yrold.

Mommy's little 2yrold god-daughter came over today and she loves me to the max! I'm the first one in the house she waves to; mine's the first room she runs to; I'm the only one she plays with. Today's antics included trying on my huge shades, putting all of my accessories on herself (at the same time), and experimenting with my makeup stuffs. Thank goodness I managed to persuade into letting ME do most of the making up, while she was pretty contented to poke at her own lips (and chin and nose as well) with a old lipgloss brush I cleaned and kept.

She is such a little lady, I tell you! Running around the house, showing off her new found treasures to her Mom and Dad. I can't wait for her to grow up and let me play dress up with her. Oh, WHY do I have a 11yrold brother again?

under construction

watch this space

Hello all! I am trying to change the blog template bit by bit.
Please do bear with the odds and ends meanwhile. (:
This HTML thing is not easy at all. :(

Oh, I'm thinking of putting up links finally!
Should I?
Leave your link if you want to be linked.
Haha, but I'll probably link friends whom I know. Cheers!

mambo!

mambo!

For the whole week the Clubbing Bug was biting because I didn't quite have enough fun at PostProm! Like everything just flew past and yeah, not enough fun. Since it's Clare's birthday and since next Wed I'll be zipping off on a cruise, Maaaambo today! (:

We had to borrow I/C for Kaiyi first, because can you believe it, that woman is STILL underage! Hahaha! It's okay, 29th will come soon enough, little one! :D When we finally reached the place at 11.30pm or so, the queue was all the way to AMK please. So many people! Haha so we started walking up and down, trying to look for people we know and found WeeMeng & Yimei! Thank you for letting us join you guys in the queue! Or we wouldn't have gotten in before 3am. Gosh.

Then it was to Mambo to find Mel, Leanne, Keith, Titus and Mr J Marcus (I really dunno his name but I think it starts with a J! Someone enlighten me pls.)! We were like, right in front of the wall and after awhile it got pretty impossible to move. Turned out SongHui was working at Grand Corpthone's so I went out to talk to him for awhile. (: Haha seems like everytime I'm in the area he's at the hotel.

Went back in when the group shifted to Phuture, but poof, it was so freaking crowded! We couldn't even get to the middle. Back to Mambo, Clare, YingWei, Joyce & Sabby joined us and the music was goooood. We ended up parking ourselves along the corridoor, in front of the Emergency Exit doors and had like a karaoke session. Very fun! :D Until one of the boys went to lean on the door handle and trigger off the alarm! Hahaha! But okay la, nobody came and scold us, so yeah, our spot for the rest of the night!

Kaiyi and I, with our Vodkas.
We're damn smart we missed the one-for-one. Haha!

Chatting outside with SongHui.

With Kaiyi & Mel. (:

Classmates! First time in 2years, AFTER we graduated. Hahaha.

Girly photo!

I like all-girl photos, even though I look retarded here. Haha!

My lovely hockers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CLARE!
You know I love you. (:

The Emergency Exit People.
(Much thanks to the boys for taking care of us!)

the choking party

the choking party

I went for the second last hockey training of the year yesterday! And I got the biggest shock while walking into school. Just last night, I was reading Fang's blog and I thought she was in Venice. But when I turned at the sound of a car honk, I saw Fang peering out at me in the car! OMG ISN'T FANG IN VENICE?? Hahaha! Turns out I haven't been very up-to-date on things huh.

Anyways training was pretty slack with only 6 J1 girls and I forgot to bring my shoes! Borrowed Ms Tan's and her cool socks, so I could play abit! (: Well, good news! I can still push, sweep and hit. Hahaha even though half the time the ball went into the grass when we were playing monkey. It was good seeing quite a few of the hockers and seniors!

After that Kaiyi and I headed all the way down to Yio Chu Kang to meet Clare and Sammie to go to Daryl Tay's house for a little party. I never realised Singapore is actually quite big until today. YCK is at the other end of the world please! It took forever and ever for the train to crawl there, plus the cab ride home hit a new high - 25bucks!

We were famished by the time we reached Daryl's house. A piece of advice from us - Never arrive late at the party with many ruggers (or maybe just boys for that matter of fact) if you want to eat. Haha! The boys finished up 200bucks worth of food within an hr! But the satay was good and Kaiyi got high on potatoes, which was Andrew Yap's idea of good food. ahaha! It was super funny when she just got like, woozy after eating 2 or 3 or the small potatoes that Azmi, ever the Mr. Nice, peeled for us. Malone couldn't stop going on about it and I couldn't stop reminding him of the Who Are You incident in the club. Hahaha! Well, at least no eating leaves this year for me!

I think the highest point of the party was when Jotham came rushing into the living area and declared, "SHIT DARYL, SOMEONE SHAT IN YOUR TOILET AND NOW IT'S CHOKED WITH SHIT! LIKE BLOODY CONCRETE! FCUKING SMELLY!" Hahahahaha! And the next few minutes were lost in guffaws and a whole round of shouts from the boys, especially Daryl, about The Culprit (we never found out whom!) who landed a whole slab of human waste solid as concrete in the toilet. HAHAHA! I am still laughing about it now!

Bridge and DaiDee and Malone was a noob at BOTH. Haha! With his popped shoulder, he was the cardholder for the night while I was the brain. That boy is super blur! If you need some ego-boosting at Bridge, go look for him. Hahaha! And YiMei (and Jotham) were superb. Me? I kept giving Xia the wrong info about which card came out and which card hasn't and well, it just helped Malone lose even more. Haha!

Then I was the sucker at Bluff. I couldn't believe how bad I was at it! I kept having that stupid smile on my face when I'm lying, or like I just had to flip open other people's cards when they weren't lying. Oh my gosh. Hahaha I would have lost if it wasn't for the fact that game just couldn't end, so we switched to another game when Daryl started complaining about how boring his very own house was.

No pictures because I left my camera in my bag and was too lazy to go get it. Haha and now I wished I was abit less of a bum. It was a great party nevertheless! Thanks Daryl, you were such a good host - playing plumber and all. Haha! :D

And you know, as I look back on last year's December, I was just wondering how many more of such AC parties would there be? I really am going to miss this school and all my friends. So dear friends, we'll meet up and have our silly fun on a regular basis okay! (:

I'm so looking forwad to Christmas! Even though I have no money nor any idea of what's going to happen. Hahaha.

10hrs in a lan shop

10hrs in a LAN shop

I was in the LAN (local area network) shop for 10 full hours. 9.30am to 7.30pm. Before today, I've never ever stayed in a LAN shop for more than 5mins. Well, I guess it made up for what I've been missing my whole life. Yes, sense the sacarsm and fatigue.

Here's what I've been missing - MCPs (male chauvisnist pigs), computers, a minority of rather cute and shy gamers, a majority of smelly and vertically-challenged gamers, more computers, and perhaps a hundred cool-looking swivelling chairs. Yes, you can tell I'm not a big fan of LAN shops despite spending 10hrs in one! I swear if I hear that irritating "I'm gOing. I'm gOing." or "UnDERstood! UnDERstood!" in the sub-human computer voice again, I will punch people.

I was tried and stupid and abit grouchy. Especially when one of the gamers (Note: The vertically-, aesthetically-, and socially-challenged kind) under Ashley made a huge fuss of us girl-marshals telling him the wrong thing. He was such a biyatch! He is one of the arrogant little ugly things who go around thinking they're the kings of the world just because they're relatively good at something. Not even everything, or anything huge, but just something. And he thinks everyone else is stupid, and girls are probably dumber since well, they're girls. HE IS A BLOODY MCP! I bet he's taking revenge on girls because never once has a pretty actually talked to him! Bleeeeaaaah. Stupid pig.

And then there were those stupid cheaters who ignore my warnings because I am a girl! Like, they're only supposed to have ten potions right, then obviously he had 16 and when I told him, "Hey, you're only supposed to have 10."

He says, "Yeah, I know."
I wait abit, and, "Hello, can you throw away the extra potions. You're not allowed to do that."
He's like, "Aiya, I know la! Wait can!"
Then, just as I was about to get help, "See la! I lost! Can?? I LOST."

Oh my goodness! As I was at fault for his defeat! Hopeless sore loser AND a cheater bug! I felt like slapping his face. I may not know everything about the game but I can tell when you cheat like that okay! ROARS. So pissed off!

I was also very sleepy the whole day, having stayed up till 3am to read the rules, but in vain. Hahaha there was one point in time when there was nothing much to do, and I actually fell asleep on the job. I just plonked myself down on of the many swivel chairs, put my head on the table, and fell asleep! Haha! Thankfully the photographer didn't take a picture of me stealing forty winks.

So friends, my job really isn't as cool as it sounds! Or maybe it's only because I don't play that game, which is really spelt as Granado Espada btw. But yeah, I'll have 60bucks to at least clear my debts (Mel & Quikz!) soon enough. Haha!

Marshal group photo!
And the official gallery is here.

Post-Script 1: Francine Chye! I will miss you very much for 18 long days while you fly around Europe. You will owe me 3weeks of once-a-week dates when you're back okay! I'm looking forward to exchanging many stories complete with photos. (: Have fun, keep safe and LOOK AT MY PHOTO! Hahaha. I love you heaps, pseudo girlfriend!

Post-Script 2: Check out last year's one-day job experience! :D

friday night and broke

friday night and broke

Ever since I got back from Prom, I've been living with 80cents in my wallet. HAHAHA! Yes, it sounds hilarious but it's really quite tragic! The plan was to hibernate until I get rid of enough lazy bugs in me to go get a job, but well, the whole hibernating thing got old in 2days and I was seriously bored out of my skin at home. But it was simply impossible to go anywhere with 80cents!

Until Yiting missed me enough to treat me to dinner just to see me! Hee, I love that woman! :D She's so getting my first treat when I get a job... soon. Anyways we met up Vivo and had the sweetest Iced Tea at Carl's Junior ever, thanks to my friend who declared the first cup was not sweet enough. We probably drank half a cup of starch between us. Hahaha. We chatted and gossiped and complained and whined and comforted ourselves by laughing at people. It was mindless bitching, totally good for health! You need to purge those accumulated poison once in awhile. Detox!

The Sky Park is lovely after the rain! Minus the wet floor, it made a really good place to just take a walk, digest your food and just talk. Hahaha we were also trying to take a selfshot of the Chirstmas tree and us, until a professional guy came up and offered to help! Free of charge unless you use his camera. Nice guy! (:

We talked about Proms and afterparties and jobs and friends who are drifiting away and growing up and life. Yeah, it is scary how fast we're growing up, and it's sad how some people are just drifting further and further away. I'm very glad to have this friend of mine, and very happy to spend the evening with her!

In the end, I still prefer our selfshot, even though you can't see the whole tree!
Haha!

Anyways, I have a one-day job thing at a Gaming Competition tomorrow and I am So. Dead. I have no idea how to play the game, and I'm supposed to prevent people from cheating tomorrow, buy ammunition for them if they don't know how and blah blah! I don't even know how to spell the name of the game! It's that Espada Granade game or something like that.

But then again, if they sign up for a Gaming Competition, they should know how to buy their own ammunition right? Plus generally people just don't cheat right? Don't say NO! I'm already trying to study the whole rules thing and scoring system like I'm mugging for A levels. Oh oh, let's just hope no one asks me questions and blow my cover tomorrow. I just earn my 60bucks in peace!

the holiday to-do list

the holiday to-do list

1. Learn to dance. (Latin dance, baby!)
2. Go for a trip(s) with friends.
3. Try waitressing, teaching, sales promoting and an office job.
4. Pick up Japanese again?
5. Enroll in a makeup class.
6. Get my driving license!
7. Change my blog template. Haha!
8. I really want a diving license!
9. Yoga with Mommy.
10. Learn to cook? Ambitious!

I sat in front of the window, listening to the rain fall outside, thinking of all the things I want to do during this long holiday. And I think, I WANT TO WRITE A BOOK! I'm pretty serious, this is not a bimbotic statement from me! Sometimes I have secret thoughts in my head that are funny/bitchy/ clever/touching but I cannot tell anyone or write these thoughts down anywhere because of the way life is. At these times, I think I'll make a pretty good character in a book - from saying funny mean things about people to making grand statements about life. Yes, I want to write a book!

The only thing is, I have no idea how to start. Or come up with a good plot. Or keep track of all the characters. Or construct characters of different dimensions. And even if I manage to finish a relatively coherent/interesting book, who's gonna read it? Do I publish it? How? What? Then?

Bleeah, forget it. Maybe this is just one of my weird moments again. Haha. But if I ever do write something, a book or a novella, I will let you all know. :D Meanwhile, I have a new found respect for authors, espeically budding ones!
