back in school, surprise!

back in school, surprise!

So that day I met Sarah in school and went for a swim, plus good old Yong Tau Foo lunch! It's always so relaxing to be back in AC - it's just like being back home again. It makes me so happy to be away from the rest of world and just being back.

Hung around and waited for Fran, Kaiyi and Elisha (Fran's little sister) to get ready for our surprise party for Michelle (Fran's second sister, who's in J1 this year)! We blew up ballons and tied them all around the corner of Oldham wing. We also burst alot of balloons and attracted embarassing attention. Haha!

Fran was a busy bee, running all over the place getting Mich's dance friends and classmates to Oldham and collaborating with another girl to bring Mich to Oldham wing for the actual surprise. Kaiyi made sure nothing goes wrong, like saving the candles with the cake box. And I was the camera person! We party planners rock. :D Oh, and it was so funny when one of the J1s asked, "Are you ALL her sisters?" Hahaha!

It was a total success and Mich was completely surprised when she came down! Fran was over the moon! We were all delighted! Yay, I love surprise parties, espcially when they are AC-styel! (:

Kaiyi, tying the balloons.

With the pink girl.

Three of us, with one of the star balloons.

Yo, we cap people!

Fran & Elisha, so cute huh!

Balloons all over, and the 2 superstar ones.

Lighting up the candles, and making sure they didn't go off before Mich arrived.

Happy birthday, Michelle!

And the 3 Chye sisters. Very sweet!

and a waitress now!

and a waitress now!

I got a new job! Again! Hahaha. This time, I'm trying out being a waitress, something I've been wanting to try for a long time. When Sarah's brother asked if we wanted to join him at the restaurant he's working at, we jobless 2 happily agreed!

The first day was pretty okay, except that it's pretty difficult to remember what's on the menu, and to figure out what drinks the customers ordered. Like, if they order a gin, I'm supposed to ask them "On rocks? Dry? Or extra dry?" or something like that! And all the customers utter the impossible French names of wines impossibly fast.

There was a Jap guy who tried to order "Sparkling water" from me twice, and I seriously thought he said "Sprite plus water" or something! I was wondering what on earth was that! Until he finally pointed at the menu. Hahaha.

Other than that, the serving and clearing tables part wasn't that bad actually. Mainly because the place serves more drinks than food, and most of the time it's only glasses and bottles.

Oh oh, I even got to open a champagne bottle! Pouring it out into glasses is some art man. You need to tilt the glass so that the liquid doesn't foam. You can't pour too slowly cos the customers get impatient. You need to get the customer to check the wine before opening it. You need to hold the bottle by the base or else the heat from your palm will warm up the wine.

Woah! I never knew!

It's all been novel and interesting so far, and I really appreciate all these different working experiences. Let's just hope this job lasts me more than 20days! Haha!

glam? what's that?

glam? what's that?

Ever since I came back from the sports camp, reality has been feeling kinda funny. It feels funny to not wake up to incessant banging on the door. It feels funny not to brush my teeth at the common sink. It feels funny not to pull my hair back and tuck it all under my cap all the time. It feels funny to be in anything other than t-shirt and shorts!

I've forgotten how to take my time in the shower. I've forgotten how to take proper care of my skin. I've forgotten how to trim my nails or wash off the polish. I've forgotten how to blow dry my hair. Even slapping on toner and moisturiser has become such a chore.

When I go out to meet my girlfriends these days, I just throw on a decent t-shirt and shorts or skirt to go along! I can't be bothered with my impossible bangs anymore; I just pop my good old cap on and off I go. Instead of picking a pair of heels to spice up the boring outfit, I choose the comfy flats, no matter how unglam. Even with pimples having the party of their lives on my face, I ditch the foundation and blusher, and simply pull my cap lower. The closest thing I've come to make up was lip gloss.

I have become so totally unglam!

It's like the camp has turned me into a cavewoman of sorts. Omg, it's so scary. I must learn to vain and glam again. This t-shirt and shorts thing cannot go on!

Mission for the week: Get out of the house in nice clothes and heels! Plus that tiny handbag.

so much fun

so much fun

Banana people!

That's only 1/3 of my OG, Samurai, at one of my favourite activites. It's one of the best photos I've got so far, and we all look so happy!

The camp was so much fun! We tried so many different sports - from netball to handball to archery to floorball to beach volleyball to Paintball to 6hrs of night cycling to rock-climbing to cable-skiing to dragonboating to Laserquest to rollerblading. It was crazy!

I had a total of about some 14hours of sleep over the 6days. My goodness, I have NEVER been so tired in my entire life before! It's like some mad challenge to my limits. Completely crazy. At one point of time, Nut and I actually whined so much that we wanted to sit down and cry. Hahaha.

Then there were the highly embarassing and scandalous forfeits. Let's just say there were lip-to-lip contact, people eating/licking things off other people, and obscene poses struck. I really don't think you need to know the rest! Hahaha.

We also had secret names (mine was Marissa and my SP's was Ryan like in the OC!) and secret pals (SPs). I'll probably never forget Nut's expression when I came back and declared I was home free. HAHAHA. She hit jackpot! In what sense I can't say. Inside joke!

I think this post sounds funny. I'm still trying to get used to civilisation. It feels funny to be sitting here in an aircon with hours of free time to spare. Hahaha. Proper update with the photos and all soon! (:

off for camp

off for camp

Hello friends! I'm gonna disappear for 6 days - I'll be off to NUS Sports Camp 2008! It lasts from Monday to Saturday, and the packlist includes 11 sets of clothes. Yes, 11!

I'm so tired from packing already. I even bought a huge duffel bag so that I won't have to show up with a luggage, looking like an idiot. Haha!

Things to look forward to include cable-skiing, Paintball, nightcycling, Luge rides, wakeboarding, nightcycling, pool games, a day at Sentosa and heaps more! As usual, I am so excited! My first UNI camp! ((: I just hope I'll still be alive and kicking at the end of the 6 mad days.

I've met my OG once, and they look like pretty nice people. Fran's friend, Nut, is in my OG, and we've happily made friends already. At least I won't be completely friendless for sure. Haha.

Long update and hopefully pictures in 6 days. I'll miss you'all, especially my two bimbos!

It's wonderful to be back at AC's big green field every Saturday morning.

bollywood stars (or wannabes)

bollywood stars (or wannabes)

To enjoy the last of our carefree and jobless days, Sarah and I have been thinking up unusual stuffs to do! We've gone to the Escape theme park, cycled to West Coast Park and even explored Pulau Ubin.

This time, we decided to have a nice little picnic at the Botanic Gardens!

We met insanely early in the morning (which is really like 9am but it's as early as we get, minus sleepovers), dropped by Tanglin Mall to pick up somemore food, and then we were happy picnic-goers under the shade of an enormous tree.

It was so relaxing to be sprawled out on 2 sarongs, munching on giant strawberries and cherry tomatoes, slurping fruit juice and yoghurt, and snacking on sandwiches, biscuits and cereal. We brought way too much food for just the 2 of us.

We pranced on the big green fields and took silly photos. We climbed onto odd-looking trees and fed birds with breadcrumbs. We chatted with very educated maids and played with adorable little angmoh kids. We dodged behind trees and pretended to be Bollywood superstars.

The weather was great - sunny and breezy - perfect for our picnic! We almost lost our shared envy of the dry, insect-free grass that other countries boast. The greens and blues and bright sunshine were beautiful!

At the entrance of our picnic grounds.

Our first photo at the Swan Lake, before we spotted the 2 swans.

Then we attempted to take a photo with the swans with the timer function,
but the swans were swimming way too fast for us to get a proper photo!
This is the best one. Haha.

Fine fine, all the attention to you two birds!

Sarah said my hair was super unglam and Auntie-ish. Hahaha.

A happy photo of Sarah prancing around.

Then the mad photo! Hahaha.

Happy picnic people!

Huge red strawberry!

More of the heart-shaped fruit. They're SO good!

Fruit freaks.
Look, I sneaked a few packets of sugar from Macs to go with the strawberries. Hahaha.

Hahaha my mad jumping shot.
My skirt blends with the grass! Dang.

All smiles. And more blending of the green items.

HAHAHA Sarah's pseudo emo shot!

It got too hot, so I lifted up the top layer of my skirt. HAHA.

Sprawling out on the sarongs.

Our area under the huge tree.
I love this picture - it almost looks like a painting.

Sarah with the pretty pink flowers.

Little angmoh kids chasing bubbles with their maids.

Sarah, looking like a tree goddess or something. Haha.

Me me me, with my green skirt more visible this time.

Twirling and spinning around!

We got so dizzy trying to take these photos of our skirts splayed out. Hahaha.

Emo screamo.
I told Sarah that if she ever produces an album,
she must choose one of these photos for her cover!

Running running.

Us at the funny-looking tree with a cute angmoh kid!

Album cover picture!
Look at the light shining down, so pretty!
Hahaha the Bollywood action actress shot.

Then this is my version of the cover shot.

And I look like the some matrix character in the action shot can!

She looks like Aladdin's Jasmine here!
Diva on the mat. Hahaha.

Another cover shot!
Don't you love the green and brown contrast, the patchy sunlight and her long flowy skirt?

Our first attempt of timer running shots.

This is pretty cool!

You can't tell, but it's REALLY tiring running up and down that slope for the shots!

Twirling around like little kids!

The funny birds we fed.

Tired from running and jumping around.

What a pretty forest shot right!
We constantly felt like we were in a fairytale or something.

And this is the best attempt of the skirt-splayed-out-on-grass shot!

We walked the long, long stretch down to Orchard to do some shopping afterwards. Both of us were totally exhausted by the time we managed to grab some Cotton On stuffs and coloured socks. Haha we took such a long time choosing the socks because we didn't wanna buy the same 3 colours. And by 4pm, we were both on the bus home already!

The long day completely wore us out. I think it was the running around and jumping for the photos that were the most tiring! Not to mention the long walk to town. We felt like such nature's girls! (:
