the rain, crazy people, and bak kut teh

the rain, crazy people, and bak kut teh

I went to collect the race pack for the upcoming Nike Human Race with Glenn today. Looking for the end of the queue was a discovery all on its own. It snaked down one alley of the main square of Clarke Quay, down another, turned back up, and wound all the way to the back of the taxi stand. We stood and stared at each other.

Are there so many mad people in the world? All of us paid 30bucks to queue for two hours to run for another hour! Haha! Where is the logic?

I think the only thing that kept us from whining ourselves to death was the cool weather - it was pouring so heavily. And by the time we were done queuing, the rain let up to a drizzle, and we walked across to Merchant Road for some hot Bak Kut Teh and traditionally brewed Chinese Tea.

It was an awesome dinner! The warm soup and steamy hot tea in the cool weather - I could almost believe that we were in another country altogether. Except that it was Bak Kut Teh we were having. (:
